Nana began speaking as she passed the bowl of mashed potatoes over to me. "Has anyone contacted Gramps? How is that old man?" She questioned.
Mr. Wittstock stood at the end of the table and reached to cut the turkey, slicing pieces to distribute it. "He had a bit of an health scare a few weeks back."
"A health scare? Whew! I told that man that his diet would destroy his health sooner or later." She said, reaching for the buns.
Vinny, Keith and Matteo all shared a similar look and Nana noticed the silence immediately.
"What is going on? Is there something I don't know?"
Vinny shoved a spoon full of food into his mouth to avoid having to be the one to answer him.
"Vincent," Nana speaks, aware that there was now something that was being hidden from here.
"Mother, it's in the past. We've moved on from it." Mr. Wittstock spoke, pacing slices of turkey on our plates. Today had been the first I'd seen him not glued to a phone and it was suprising but interesting to say the least. He was actually engaged in the family just as he was at breakfast this morning.
"I am apart of this family too. What has occured with Gramps?"
"It's nothing Nana, it's in the past." Keith said, trying to shut this conversation down.
I wasn't sure what was going on and simply began to eat my food. The tension in the room was high and now it wasn't just Suzie who was standoffish, but Keith and Matteo had tensed up a bit as well.
