You Huo wanted to cry.

The System had stolen Qin Jiu's memories not just once, but twice. Once after they had gotten together... and once again, after they had just gotten onto semi-friendly terms with each other after being leaders of two extremely hostile factions...

This System had stolen his entire life from him. Couldn't he just have this one thing?

Noticing his internal, silent distress, Qin Jiu shuffled closer ever so slightly. The movement was small enough that Gao Qi, who was still stuck on the fact that GIN was the new Head Invigilator, didn't notice, but it was more than enough for You Huo, who glanced at him gratefully.

Judging from their positions, the man at the front was probably Invigilator 001.

He acted like someone who came to find shelter from the snow. While he assessed the cabin, he took off his leather gloves and said with a smile: "Not bad, there's even a fire. The snow outside is quite heavy so it was very cold coming here."

The invigilators and examinees all froze. Sure, Qin Jiu was an ass half the time... but he would never act like this towards clearly terrified examinees. Even without his examinee memories, he was more likely to subtly help examinees and tease his fellow invigilators...

Especially now that they had "five deadly poisons" as examinees. Two elementary school children, a pregnant woman (sure, she's a bug, but future Qin Jiu wouldn't know that), three elderly people, an alcoholic, a sick man, a fucking foreigner that somehow appeared in the System and didn't understand a lick of Chinese...

Qin Jiu was playful, but he wasn't that much of a bastard.

But now, GIN just looked cold, uncaring, like his heart had been frozen a dozen times over.

This wasn't Qin Jiu. He wasn't like this...

What had the System done to him?

No one smiled back.

Most of the people in the room had shrunken back.

He acted like he didn't notice this reaction and leisurely walked over to the fire stove to warm up his hands. The smile from earlier still lingered at his lips and it brought along with it a sense of lazy teasing.

"What the fuck!?" Someone finally found their voice, "GIN... what are you..."

Even Qin Jiu looked disturbed by just how... dead... his future self seemed.

All of them already had some form of memory loss about their lives outside the system, and for newer invigilators, their memories of the exams they completed to earn their positions were also dulling.

But to have their memories completely wiped not just once, but twice...

The snow on his shoulders and collar slowly disappeared, leaving behind a slightly damp stain. It then slowly dried up.

Everyone stared at him, but no one dared to speak.

"This is just... wrong..." Someone gasped, horrified.

Sure, Invigilator A and GIN were opponents at the best of times, but they had been pretty close ever since Chu Yue forced them to sit together for this viewing experience. At the very least, You Huo had been pretty tolerant towards Qin Jiu's bullshit, and now that the suffocating System wasn't watching over them, they were all allies.

(Actually, they weren't too sure where You Huo and Chu Yue stood. They had never really voiced their opinions regarding the system.)

But given the right circumstances, those two actually got along just fine.
