Christmas 2010, Herman Schultz and his wife Ellie Schultz arrive at their daughter's Christmas play when Herman's old boss and friend Joshua crashes the play, killing Ella. Herman 'killed' Joshua and was framed for the murder of Ella Schultz being sent to prison until Ernst Sablinova paid the prison to release him. There the pair devised a plan to kill Wilson Fisk, Hammerhead and The Kingpin of crime. The plans go sour when a superhuman teen dressed as a spider foils their plans, arriving at Joshua's compound Herman found out the truth; that Ernst was also behind the death of Ella.
Herman killed Ernst and issued a hands off warning to Spider-Man.

He and his best friend Ned Leeds meet Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop, Ned and Cassie hit it off and instantly become friends.
