"Mirabel, we might have to go to Bogotá."

She sat on her bed, with the most confused face I've seen in ages.

"What? Isn't that the capital city of Colombia?" She raised an eyebrow, and I nodded.

"Yea, if your that desprate to find out more about your tío, my family living there happen to know a lot." I stated. She stood in silence for a great five seconds, most likely trying to make up her mind.

She sighed. "Atleast we have someone who might help us. Everyone I know won't tell me anything~" She groaned in annoyance, falling back onto the bed before looking up at me again. "We're definitely doing this."

"Wow, I wish I was as determined as you." I chuckled, looking down at the girl to see a cocky smile growing on her face.

"So, how much do I need to bring?"

"Ugh, these won't fit!" Mirabel struggled to shove another skirt inside her large bag in which she was using to keep all her things in.

"I told you that you didn't need to bring so much, Mira." I walked over to the annoyed looking girl and stared at the overflowing bag. "What exactly did you put in here?"

"Two shirts and skirts, sleepwear, um, personal stuff, my toothbrush, and a blanket."

"Oh, you don't need a blanket you weirdo, we'll book a hotel." I rummaged through the bag to find the item but noticed the long skirts. I picked up one and stared.

"Is it bad?" Mirabel asked, making me shake my head.

"Of course not! But uhm, times have changed and so have styles of clothing. So, do you maybe have any skirts that are a few inches shorter?" I awkwardly asked, trying my best not to sound offensive. She thankfully smiled and nodded before walking to the closet and coming back with another skirt.

"This should do, but it's the only shorter skirt I have."

"Oh that's fine, I can buy you something there." I grinned, taking the blanket out of the bag.

"Oh no you don't have to do that, I'll bring my money!" She rushed to the closet again and came back with the promised money.

"Hey (Y/N), your dumbass literally left your things here." My annoying cousin Andre teased, after me and Mirabel had walked into my home to grab my things. I rolled my eyes and gestured for Mirabel to follow me upstairs.

"Oh, hello miss! May I ask what your doing here?" We were interrupted by my tía Nica who had just walked into the room.

"Hi! Me and (Y/N) are having a sleepover at her friend's house, and we decided to go early." Mirabel filled her in, receiving a smile from my tía before we went our separate ways.

I walked into my room with Mirabel behind me, speeding around everywhere to find whatever I needed for the trip.

"Was that your mom, (Y/N)?" I froze at the sudden question. Right, I haven't told her about my parents. Not that I know much either.

"No, that's... My tía." I answered, still searching for my favourite t-shirt.

"Oh, random question; do you not live with your parents our something?" She stared at me with interest. For some reason.

"Um, kind of a long story, this summer my parents dropped me and my brother here and left us without saying anything about it. So, I really don't know what's going on." I shrugged, noticing the girl before me's eyes widening.

"How on earth do you say that so casually? Usually people saying that would sound really unhappy." She blinked. I thought for a few seconds. She was right, I only noticed now how that was actually a big deal; leaving your kids with their other family in some insane village without saying a word. Pretty ironic, right?

"I guess I didn't care as much, I was told they would come back soon. Plus, I might get to spend even more time with my cousins and you." I reassuringly smiled, hoping she would drop the conversation. In which she did, because of the distraction that crawled into the room.

"Oh my god, is that your cat?" She stared in awe at Arepa, who walked towards her and rubbed himself against her leg.

"Yea, his names uh... Arepa." She snorted and giggled at the name, and I smiled. "Hey, I wasn't thinking straight when I named him, alright?"

I picked up my now full purse and stood up. "Okay let's go."
