Now I'm stopping you here. This is the trigger warning. I don't usually use this but with this chapter I think it's important. If you decide not to read it, message me if you want the shorter version of the chapter

The nine-year-old has been living with her dad for a while now, she doesn't know exactly how long but it seemed like a long time and it wasn't that bad.

The first nights were the worst, her thoughts consumed her. Everynight she cried, begging for her family to not forget her and finally when she was able to get some sleep, the girl would wake up crying, remembering the last day she spent with her family, feeling that emptiness in the middle of her chest.

However, she has now got used to the feeling and her dad wasn't mean or anything. He wasn't warm like Carina or made her feel safe like Maya but it was fine.

She did miss her home though, she missed the late night movies or the fun trips to school but mostly she missed her sister. She tried not to think so much about her... her sister was safe and finally had a family that loved her very much, she just wished she had one too

On his part, Chris was finding hard to cope with his new role as a father. He had thought about what it would be like to live with the girl but he didn't count on the fact that Luna might be attached to her previous family or that it would be so difficult to gain the girl's trust

"Umm... can I have a book?" Luna asked to the man that was working on his computer on the table. She didn't have much here, no toys, no books, nothing to color with, just a few old puzzles and some clothes

"A book?" the man asked looking around for something he could give the girl "This will have to do" he said as he handed the kid a magazine. Luna looked at it for a few seconds and then shrugged

"Thank you" she said going to the sofa opening the thing

When Luna had already finished reading the magazine she heard the doorbell rang. Chris stood up going to answer the door and soon realized the kid looking at him

"You want to be a big girl and answer the door?" He asked in an attempt of gaining his daughter's trust... he was trying. That was something Luna found a little weird. Chris did treated her like she was a baby, like he wanted her to be little again. The brunette slowly nodded walking closer to the man, looking at him before actually opening the door

When she did a tall man was revealed. He looked young, tall with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. The stranger smiled but there was something about him that scared the little one making her take a step back

"Lucas?" Chris asked surprised. He was kind of like an old friend... the truth is that he hadn't seen him in years. They met when they were just kids and they instantly bacame attached by the hip, grew up together, made bad decisions together but finally parted ways when Chris decided rehab was what he needed "What are you doing here?"

"What a way of greeting your friend..." he answered making his way into the house "Well you got yourself a nice place" he said as he grabbed one of the photos that was on a stand. Unconsciously Chris pulled Luna closer to him "Who's that?" he said now walking closer towards the brunette

"Luna... my kid" he said placing Luna behind him. Lucas didn't look friendly to be honest, Luna was scared so she was thankful when her dad placed her behind him

"You have a kid? Holy fuck is been a long time" he said chuckling

"Luna, why don't you go to your room while we talk?" Chris said making Luna nod quickly to run to her room afterwards

In the room there wasn't much to do but she prefered to be there than with her dad's friend. She walked towards the window and just looked outside. Sometimes she wonders how far away is she from her home and how long would it take her to get back
