"Do you remember when you lived only with emma's dad?" asked the woman writing down something in her notebook, receiving a nod in response "Can you tell me a little about that?"

"Well after my mom was in the car accident we lived alone with him for a while" said the girl feeling her heart race and some tears threatened to come out "He wasn't so nice, he liked to go out with his friends so he wasn't that much in the house "

"And who was taking care of you while he was gone?" she asked her to which the girl shrugged, they always stayed alone and Luna was the one who had to take care of them "Okay and what happened next?"

"Emma got sick so I had to skip preschool to take care of her ... and then Jennifer appeared and we had to go with her" the girl replied looking at her hands

"Carina and Maya told me that you are having some problems sleeping" said the therapist, noticing that the girl was not going to comment much more on that moment.

"Nightmares ..." the little girl whispered "they're scary"

"Yes? Can you tell me what are your nightmares about?" Luna at this question looked at the door, wishing that one of the two women waiting outside would enter through it "Okay, I know it can be a bit scary, but I promise you they can't hurt you" Lynn said gently

"Last house ..." she whispered she closing her eyes for a moment "Mr. Smith didn't like us very much" she began to explain sighing "At first he was nice" she said remembering the first months with the couple "until his wife left"

Luna remembered that the couple used to argue a lot, every night they fought over things that the girl did not fully understand. Her sister and her stayed in the room waiting for the screaming to stop so they could finally sleep.

---------------------------

"FUCK YOU" the woman said as she slammed the door and walked to the car leaving the house with her children

They had been arguing for hours, it was very late but no one in the house was able to sleep because of all the shouting that was going on. Luna slowly got out of the room and walked towards the stairs.

The lights were on and the only thing she was able to see was some suitcases at the bottom of the stairs. Her foster siblings looked at them from the sofa until their mom got full of it and told them to grab their things

"AND WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT" the man yelled when he saw the small body lean out of the stairs "GET LOST" he said hitting the wall which made the girl jump and run up the stairs to hide in her room

--------------------------

"He started going out a lot and he smelled weird" she said making the woman nod "He would get mad very easily even if we didn't do anything wrong" Luna told the woman, she remembers there were times when she would just be there, sitting or searching for something to do and he would get mad out of nowhere

"Did that happen a lot?" the woman asked trying not to let it get into her but it was really hard. It was always hard when she had to deal with cases of abuse and it was even harder when the ones suffering it were kids

"Yes" Luna said looking down "all the time" no matter what she did or what she didn't it always seem to be something wrong with it

--------------------------

"What are you doing?" Mr. Smith asked with a low tone, you could hear the rage building inside of him. Little Luna was over a chair trying to reach for something to eat, the fridge was empty so she was reaching for some of the cookies of the cupboard

"Nothing.... I was... um" Luna stuttered in fear

"Nothing... um... I " he mocked her "Can't you speak properly?, you are a seven year old, act like one" he said approaching the girl "Get down" he said as he grabbed her by the arm and pushed her to the ground. Luna let out a piercing scream, she swears she heard something crack "Now go to your room, I don't want hear a single sound from you"

-----------------------------

"What about Emma?" the therapist asked "she was four at the moment" she commented and the little eight-year-old nodded

"I protected her" she simply said "I'm older so I have to" she said like it was the most obvious thing "I would usually hide her somewhere... in the closet or the bathroom" she explained "She would get really scared so I would tell her a story afterwards and she usually fell asleep"

-----------------------------

"Luna..." the five-year-old said making her sister open her eyes. She was laying on the floor, her foster carer had had a bad day and had decided to take it all out with her. Her back hurt and she was sure it had cuts if it wasn't bleeding. It wasn't the first time, Mr. Smith always punished her without reasons but the belt was the worst one

"I'm okay, I'm okay" she said the best as she could standing up slowly. She walked towards her sister who was looking at her from the closet. Emma had stayed there but when everything got quiet and Luna didn't come to get her, she worried

"You hurt?" she asked almost as a whisper. Luna took her sister's hand in hers helping her out of there and they walked towards their bed

"I'll be fine" she said stroking the little blonde's hair "you want to hear a story?" she asked trying to change the subject wincing in pain when Emma snuggled against her "Once upon a time..."

---------------------

As the girl went on and on, Lynn couldn't help but get frustrated, how did the sistem missed this. She was eight and has already been through things no one should have to experience. The girl was in so much pain and no one was paying attention to it

Luna wanted to get it all out, this time they had to listen, they had to make it better.
