"Luna? What are you doing up?" Maya asked when she met the little girl in the kitchen. It was around 4 am and the blonde had decided to go get a glass of water. But as she entered the kitchen she found the light on and a little girl standing on a chair trying to reach for a glass. Luna flinched at the sudden voice making her almost fall from the chair "Careful there" Maya said walking quickly towards the girl
"Can't sleep" the girl said as she let out a yawn. She was exhausted but she just couldn't sleep without a nightmare or memory making an appearence in her sleep. The eight-year-old grabbed two glasses placing them on the counter and then reached her arms towards Maya, whom happily helped her down the chair
"Let's see..." the firefighter said serving the two glasses of water, giving one two Luna while she took a sip of her's. The a sudden idea poped up on her head, she quickly let the empty glass on the sink and began reaching for the car keys "Put on a jacket" she told Luna who just looked at her a little unsure "We're going for a little ride" she said. The girl was a little apprehensive at first but ended up doing as she was told
In the car, she helped the girl to get comfortable, buckled her in, gave her her blanket and then they were all set to go. As Maya started the car Luna was tempted to ask where were they going but suddenly she felt really tired and her eyes began to close. The sound of the car was quite soothing, and she knew she was safe so she finally let herself doze off.
Maya looked at the girl through the car's mirror and smiled when she saw her sleeping peacefully. The kid really needed some sleep, they were barely out of the under the bed situation. They don't know what it was, the only thing they know is one morning they went to wake the girls for school and they found them both sleeping on their beds. The couple couldn't be more thankful about it.
Although that problem seem to be solved, Luna's sleeping patterns were not getting any better and it was starting to concern the women. Even though everyone told them that she will come around about it and that the she just needed time, the kid needed to sleep. So when Maya saw the girl finally sleeping on the back sit of the car she couldn't help but smile and think she would drive all night if it was necessary.

The blonde woman drove for a few blocks before deciding it was time to come back home. When she opened the door she was met by her wife who was sitting on the sofa. Carina as soon as she heard the door let out a sigh of relief, she had woken up and her wife and foster daughter were nowhere to be found. She knew that if her wife hadn't called her it was because they were fine but her mind loved to go to the worst case scenarios
"Hey" Maya whispered walking towards her wife with a sleeping child in her arms "we went for a little ride" she was quick to explain "I found her on the kitchen... she couldn't sleep" she said and Carina stroked the little girl's hair "I heard this worked so I thought I would give it a try... It worked"
"I'm glad you are both okay" the Italian said smiling "don't scare me like that" she whispered and Maya mouthed a sorry to which her wife shruggered "Come on, let's put her to bed" she said and the blonde nodded
They were both making their way towards the girls' room and they smiled when they were finally there a saw the little five-year-old sound asleep. She had one of her arms hanging off of the bed, her hair was all over her face and her other hand held her little teddy bear.
Maya was about to place Luna on her bed but the girl had different plans. The woman felt the kid tightening her grip around her neck and saw the girl nuzzling her head further into her neck. Maya looked at her wife asking for help but the brunette just smiled
"We can bring her to bed with us if you want" the brunette said as she saw her wife struggle on what to do "It'll be just for few hours" she said looking at her clock. The blonde woman smiled and began walking towards the door.
The brunette on the other hand walked towards the five-year-old's bed and sat on the edge of it. She moved the girl softly to which Emma let out a growl "Come on bella, you wanna come sleep with mommy and mamma for a little while?" she asked not even realizing what she had said. The kid smiled in her sleep and reached her free arm towards Carina who happily picked her up and followed her wife
Next morning Luna was the first to wake up. She was snuggled to the blonde's chest. the little brunette slowly reached with one hand one of the woman's strand of hair and slowly started playing with it, not wanting to wake up Maya.
Maya was a light sleeper so as soon as she felt something tugging her hair she woke up. Quickly realized it was the little eight year old that was trying to go back to sleep. The couple had noticed it was something the girls did, but mostly Luna. Everytime the kid was comfortable enough she would reach for a strand of hair of either of the women and start playing with it. In a few minutes the kid would be out
"Morning baby" Maya said still with her eyes close as she started to rub the kid's back with one hand "Did you had a good night?" she asked and felt Luna nod against her "That's nice"
"I'm tired" the girl whispered, although she did sleep well after their little ride, she was exhausted
"You can sleep a little longer" Maya said whispering as well when she noticed her wife moving a little "It's still early" she said and the eight year old stayed quiet so Maya assumed she was trying to sleep. Quickly she realized she was right when she felt the kid's fingers stop playing with her hair
"Morning bambina" Carina said turning around lifting herself up to give her wife a little peck
"Morning" she said smiling at the brunette a little loder that expected making the five year old groan as a response "Sorry" she quickly said making Carina chuckle
"Should we get up?" the brunette asked not really feeling like doing anything today
"Not yet" Maya said closing her eyes
"This is weird" she siad making the blode look at her "That's usually my line" she said and Maya couldn't help but laugh a little "I'm the one that stays in bed while you are the one that usually runs off to your daily morning run" the brunette said the last part rolling her eyes "By the way... I want you to know that I still don't get it"
"I know"
