Chapter 17: Trapped

"A range of commoner's carriage, huh? Why is this kingdom allowing these carriages to let through? Probably they have an event or something?" rinig kong kumento ni Tavion na katulad ko'y inilabas na rin ang kalahati ng katawan mula sa bintana.

Even with our long-distance, I could see how heavily guarded the entrance was. Not just because of the powerful presence of their huge stoned gate with intricate steel bars that would kill any insolent being who would try to illegally infiltrate, but also those guards on the post.

It would be easy if the guards were just with their armors and weapons, Tavion and I could make it through without a fit. Silent combat is what I like the most, combat without a fuss. But in this situation? In broad daylight, too many creatures, and guards with magic?

He's now sitting across from me, and I know that he's already thinking the same.

We should pass the security. But how?

"Any idea?"

Umiling si Tavion. Umikot ang mga mata ko. How could he look so fucking calm in this situation?

"Tell me something," I started tapping one of my feet on the carriage floor.

Kinakabahan na ako. I knew that everything was Howl's plan. We need to do something for our survival. After all, if we fail, it's not his loss.

"Hmm. . ."

I blinked and waited for him to respond quickly, but all he did was make that irritating sound.

"Tavion, can you take this seriously? Malapit na tayo sa bukana ng emperyo. Just like your empire or mine, the entrances are heavily guarded. Hindi tayo basta na lang makakapasok."

"I know. But you heard me. It's unusual for an empire to easily open their gates unless they have a celebration. Didn't you see? Range of commoner's carriage."

"That would make them advance their security, right? If they have celebration and open for visitors from other empires, they'll strict everything. Can't you understand our situation? Those guards might have the ability to identify us."

"I can make a diversion."

"W-what?"

"I can make a diversion, Iris. I just noticed how different my empire, Nemetio Spiran, and this Fevia Attero. I could feel a lot of elemental beasts in this world."

"Y-you mean-" he cut me off.

"When our carriage is about to enter, I'll make a quick interruption to divert the guard's attention. If they really have the ability to identify us, they won't be able to do it. I think in this world, they look highly in elemental beasts," he said with a shrug.
