Chapter 15: Portal

When I witnessed how Elin and Ressa died alone, with tears rolling down on their cheeks until their last breath while loving vampire royalties, I already promised myself that I wouldn't walk the same path.

"Kung sabagay, hindi ko kaya pinipilit na maniwala sa akin. It's just a suggestion. After all, our first agreement was just you and this gray-haired vampire to act as one of my servants, keep my train safe and sound... and well, just don't forget about that oath."

Kumuyom ang mga kamao ko. Gusto kong sigawan si Tavion at murahin siya sa binitawan niyang pangakong iyon. How could he easily utter a promise like that?

Nasa plano ko nang humiwalay kay Howl sa sandaling makarating na kami sa Fevia Attero, ngunit kung totoo ngang may kakayahan siyang gumawa ng lunas sa pangakong iyon, wala na akong ibang pagpipilian kundi gumawa na naman ng kondisyon sa kanya.

"How do we get to that ruin?"

"Iris!"

Salubong ang dalawa kong kilay nang lumingon ako pabalik kay Tavion. We're both looking for Caleb and the witch with him, but how could we if this simple promise that Tavion uttered would threaten his life?
