I watch as Viviendel jogs through the castle- Eirene hovering above her.

Watching.

Waiting for her to falter.

"Rise!" Eirene barks at the heir and Viviendel whistles.

A gust of air ruffles my hair as birds of all races crowd in the foyer- rushing past and heeding none of us a glance.

I watch in fascination as Viviendel throws her arms out, falling backwards as White Egrets and Hawks crowd around her and lift her up. With her feet dangling off the ground; she looks positively ethereal. Even in her plain brown gown with red streaks- a collar that stretches up to the top of her small arched ears. Her one mushroom horn hitting the lace decorations embroidered on the Vandyke. It looks almost painful.

"Drop!" Morana, who was following close behind, yelled.

The heir squeezes her eyes shut, chirping out a low sound before dropping- flipping in midair in a very 'unladylike' manner. Not that any of the leering perverts cared much for propriety. I wanted to slap them atop the head.

I roll my eyes at her instead.

Showoff.

I withdrawal from the crowd of onlookers, walking swiftly to the kitchens.

She looks weaker.

Her arms frailer.

Her flip had wavered in the air- her body bowing before falling.

I knew why, of course.

But I have already mourned the death of a betraying friend.

Ea was dead. Period. It wasn't our fault that he had fallen- he conversed with rebels. He had betrayed the crown we swore fealty toward.

Nobody should mourn a rebel sympathizer- no matter how much they mattered to them.

I had heard that the heir had started training today- that Eirene and Morana took over training her. The Queen of the Tomairsitkiz clan nowhere to be seen. Us Encantados guards had been dismissed yesterday, but I was too busy helping Delta with Anul's wounds to care. That is what I was planning to do- grab another warm cloth to help clot the burn Anul kept opening.

The heir messed up big time, and Delta was out for blood.
