Madelaina :

I walk up the left staircase and along a wide corridor.

I then trudge up another flight of stairs after mistaking several bathrooms, closets and smaller bedrooms for my new one.

It is here, on the third floor, that I have come across a set of two large, oak front doors.

How do I know this is going to be my new room?

Well, besides from the fact that there is a sign attached to the door reading "Madelaina," I can vaguely hear the small scraping sounds of claws on the floor inside.

I remove the sign from the door and twist the golden knobs, pushing them both open and walking Inside.

I find my little, black kitten trying to open one of my many suitcases.

The key word being "trying."

"Okay, come here, Salem."

I pick her up on her fourth failed attempt and put her outside.

"Go on," I shoo her.

Turning around, for the second time today, my mouth falls open.

My parents know me well.

Dark, wooden floors greet me, accompanied by high ceilings and two small chandeliers at each end of the room. On the right of the room is my bed. A California king laid with scarlet silk sheets and a dozen pillows. On each side are two bedside tables topped with two lamps. To the right of the bed, on the back wall, is a set of three large windows accompanied by soft satin curtains. In front of those is curved sofa and matching ottoman, adorned with more cushions and blankets. Next to that is another side table.

On the left side of the room is a door leading to the en-suite.The tiles are dark and shaped like elongated hexagons. There is a huge walk in shower and next to that, a large tub that looked like it could fit three people, each of them separated by another body. On the far end is the sink. Above it, a vintage looking, gold rimmed mirror and opposite the shower, the toilet.

Walking back out of the bathroom I see that there is also a fireplace, placed in the middle of the back wall.

Scratch.

I roll my eyes as I head back to the entrance door and open it, revealing Salem, still lingering there.

She looks up. Her jade eyes gazing innocently at me.

I raise my eyebrows. "Really?"

I open the door wider and allow her to come in.

Shutting the door, I head over to the bed and plug in my phone charger that I kept inside my hoodie pocket.

After I put my phone on charge, I take off my shoes and get into bed fully clothed. Too tired for anything else.

It takes me a while to get comfortable but as soon as my eyes shut, I am out like a candle.
