Chapter 35

TW: organ harvesting

Meanwhile with the Heavenly Kings of Tenjiku-

Sanzu bows to Ran and Rindo as Izana, Kisaki, Kaku Chou, Mochi and Mucho watches them.

"Why are you bowing suddenly?" Rindo ask as Sanzu takes out a silver bell charm and passes it to Ran with his knuckles bruised. He had beat up a few guys after hearing of her death.

"Maria said to give it to the two of you if anything happened to her." Sanzu said as the brothers feel a sense of dread go through their stomach.

"She died a few hours ago in a car crash." Sanzu says bluntly, Mucho had told him not to reveal too much about Maria's death.

Ran twinkles the silver bell charm as Izana looks at the bell blankly.

"We're gonna need some time." Rindo says as he and Ran left the room as Sanzu nods.

"Don't take too long." Hanma says as he was ignored.

Ran rings the bell as the orchid and gentian pattern on the silver bell reminded him of himself and Rindo.

He feels something wet go down his cheek as he realizes he was crying.

"What's wrong with me? I'm crying?" Ran whispers as Rindo was holding back his tears.

"Yeah you are, dumbass." Rindo jabs at his elder brother.

"Huh? What the fuck. You're crying too." Ran bickers back but they both stopped after hearing the bell ring.

"I just wished she had joined us instead so we could have protected her." Rindo mutters as he looks at the setting sun and they sat in silence for a while.

"Do you think the car crash was purposely done?" Rindo asks, breaking the long silence as Ran twirls with the metal baton in his hand.

"Sanzu didn't tell us everything but I bet the car crash was intentional." Ran says as his eyes glowed with hatred as they sat in silence again.

"Yeah that's why Maria might have known something if she had chosen to leave something for us." Rindo says as Ran's eyes widens.

"So you think she anticipated a attack?" Ran asks as Rindo shakes his head.

"We'll investigate it after we defeat Toman and get Mikey to our side." Rindo says as they continued their mourning.

"Mikey..., he looks so much like Maria, he reminds me of her." Ran mutters as he readies himself, the fight between Toman and Tenjiku will begin soon.

"Yeah he does." Rindo says as they left.

One month later-

Sanzu meets up with Mikey as they start forming the Kanto Manji gang.

Mikey places his blanket that he had been kneading as a child with the soft toy rabbit that Maria always holds onto when she sleeps.

He remembers how he had returned home years ago to discover his blanket had been washed and dried while being clean and it smelled like sweet flowers. Emma had said Maria washed it but she denied it.

To see his blanket clean, he enjoyed the small things his twin does for him who never admits to doing it.

She sewed up some of his torn clothes before, and no matter how terrible the stitch work was, he was thankful along with the many things she does for him.

"Maria said to give you this if anything happened to her, sorry for not giving you this earlier, Mikey." Sanzu said as he passes the golden bell with higanbana patterns as Mikey shakes it. His eyes were blank as he doesn't say a word.
