Chapter 26

Maria/ Manchiro POV

I sludged my way through the snow as snow piled on my hair, but I didn't care. Baji is dead, I caress the ring he had given me on my hand as I look at the lake before me.

When we were younger, I used to watch him pick fights with Mikey. And when Mikey kicked his ass, I would always patch his wounds up and comfort him. And then he would just stay silent while we enjoyed one another's company. We were so happy together.

Should I just die? There's no point in living if he's dead right?

I stare at the lake before me as I debated on drowning myself.

It would be a cold death, after that my cold body will be eaten by fishes, perhaps that's a fitting death for me, for all the pain I've inflicted upon others in my life.

As how I didn't get to save Shinichiro which caused Kazutora to go to juvie as he places all the blame on my brother instead.

"It's all my fault." I whispered as I look at the dark sky. "It's all my fault and has always been my fault!" I scream at the lake as I feel my throat strain and I coughed in pain as blood spilled out of my mouth.

I was kneeling before the bench where me and Baji had enjoyed our most enjoyable moments together.

My blood soaked through the snow, the red liquid was a huge contrast with the white snow as I cried.

My tears soaked through the snow with my blood as I knelt on the cold ground.

"Maria..." I hear someone call out to me as I lifted my head to see Chifuyu.

"Baji wouldn't want to see you like this." He whispered as I stood up and kicked the bench. The wood burst from my kick as Chifuyu flinches from the blow but he still walks towards me.

"I've known him for more than a decade.I should just die. There's no way I can live the rest of my life without him." I sobbed as Chifuyu rubs away some of the snow piling on my head as I cry and sob my heart out.

"You don't have to come for the mission later. Go home and rest." He said as my throat was burning in pain.

He lifts me up by my arms as he drags me home.

I hear him and Emma talking in the hallway as I lay in my bed.

"Sister, I know I may not be in the right place to say this. But please, he wouldn't want to see you like this. Especially not to see you hurt and wallowing in despair." She said, rubbing my back as I don't reply her.

"At least live for me, Grandpa and Mikey. Mikey is already weak after losing Shinichiro and now Baji, I don't think he can take anymore losses." Emma says as she starts crying too.

I look at her for a moment longer as I close my eyes, pretending to be asleep.

Perhaps this is just a dream. Perhaps.... when I wake up tomorrow, this horrible nightmare will be gone and Baji would be my side again. Like he never left... like nothing ever happened to him.

As I returned to the sweet darkness that lulled me to sleep, Baji flashed in my mind for a moment more as I slept.

Chifuyu's POV

The fight was one sided as I lay on the ground before Inupi. My legs are fucked and I can't stand.

We definitely can't make it out of this alive. All of us were beat up, Takemichi will never be able to change the future. Even if we beat Taiju, Inupi and Koko, there's 100 men from the Black Dragons outside waiting for us.

As I thought all hope was lost, two familiar motorbikes vroomed loudly as I lifted my head.

The first one is Mikey's CB250T but the second one, the second one is Baji's Goki.

"With Mikey here, we can beat the Black Dragons!" Takemichi announced as Mitsuya questions him because the peace pact between Toman and the black dragons were broken.

"What would Mikey think of that?" Mitsuya said just as Mikey walks in with a carefree smile with his sister behind him as she was dragged by the coat by Mikey.

Maria's eyes were red from crying. Crap, she isn't stable to fight now. Why did Mikey bring her here? When I last saw her, her face was so pale and her lips were blue from the cold. She nearly froze herself to death.

"Merry Christmas. What are you guys doing on a day like this?" The elder twin smiles as the younger one stares at the ground with puffy red eyes.

Neither of them are stable now.

"Mikey, I'm sorry. This is all my fault." Mitsuya apologizes as he explains he's the one who broke the peace pact.

"Our big bro recognized the sound of your impulse, then Baji said, "Only Mitsuya's bike sounds that sweet! Y'know!"" Mikey said as I realized that Mikey may actually be like what Kisaki said.

He's going insane now.

Maria stands next to him as she stares at the colored glass in the church.

"Those 2 led me and Maria here." Mikey said.

Mikey turns back to look at Taiju. "You're fighting these 3 guys right? Why are you standing in my way? I just wanna ride with the guys."

"If Mitsuya dies, then Baji and my big bro will be sad." Mikey said with a emotionless look in his eyes just as Taiju slams his head into the ground with a fist.

"Mikey?" I call out, did Mikey just lost?

"Donnnng Donnnng Donnng." The church bell ring as it became midnight.

"Even the bell chimes to bless my victory on this holy night!!!" Taiju yells with pride.

"I've defeated the invincible Mikey!!!" He yells as the bells stops chiming.

"No way... just one hit?!" Takemichi says in fright.

Maria just stares at the man who beat her twin brother down coldly.

"I'll offer you a deal since I'm in a good mood now. If you work under me ,I'll treat you well." Taiju says to Maria as her blank eyes stares into his eyes, she looks more of like she was peering into his soul.

"After all, Inupi and Koko seem to like you. So what do you say?" He said, bending down to her height as her hands moved.
