Winter 2022

ATI Biennale Festival, Prague.

The opening night of the exhibition is somewhat crowded in one of the contemporary art galleries in Prague. The place is filled with young interdisciplinary artists, curators, and collectors, not to mention art critics. Just the same old art events followed with an Artists Talk later at night.

"Cinta! Over here!" Daisy shouts from afar with her now-husband, Derek next to her.

"Daisy!" I rush towards her and hug her tightly. "Oh my god, I can't believe that you're actually here! Hi, Derek!" I greet Derek as he waves and congratulates me.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm so proud of you and I love your hair! You remind me of Anne Hathaway's pixie cut on One Day!"

I laugh, "I somehow miss my bald look. I looked so fierce."

"Yeah, well bald or not you're always fierce." She squeezes me before letting go, "So you really remake your old works?"

I nod, "Come, let me show you."

The three of us walk to my section of work which is titled, 7 PIECES. The walls are filled with eight big paintings, four are lining up at the left side of the wall, three are lining up at the right, and one biggest landscape painting in the middle between both sides. 7 of them show different figures and describe different energies. I don't describe them as a certain person which could lead to suspicions nor easy interpretation. The biggest painting in the middle shows the conclusion of them all in one canvas.

Daisy observes each of them, and I can tell she could guess who's who based on her expression. Derek too observes the biggest one in the middle and reads about the description.

"Wow, you really changed it. Your name..." Daisy chimes in, her gaze is stuck on my autograph on the edge of the painting. There used to be an "S" initial as my signature and now it says "Cinta".

"I kinda have to..." Says me sheepishly.

"You are literally starting from zero at this point. I admire you for that." Derek jibes in.

"Hmm yes and no... either way, it's not the easiest thing."

"You don't say." He nods.

"You finally did it, S. You really finished this work after three years," Daisy adds looking so impressed.

"I know, I couldn't believe it myself."

"You think they'll... never mind." Daisy hesitates.

"You think they'll recognize this work? Probably, D... it's not exactly the same, but if they see it, I don't doubt it."

She turns to me, "What if they found you?"

I shrug, "Then we'll meet again."

"Ms. Cinta! The talk is about to start. Please stand by at your seat." One of the event staff calls out to me.

I nod at her and turns back to Daisy and Derek, "Wish me luck."

Daisy takes out her phone for some insta stories but I stop her, "Nope, do not post anything about me."

She scoffs, "Your name is already on the website!"

"Yeah, but you didn't see my picture in it, no? Derek, watch her please?" I eye her.

He's startled, "She's just proud of ya, but yeah. No stories." He says to her cheekily.
