"Uno? Anong ginagawa mo dito?"
My gaze immediately shifted to Uno -- little panicky. His eyes didn't leave mine as I tried to plead for his silence through my eyes. He pursed his lips, his jaw clenched. He didn't want to stay quiet...
But he'd do it anyway.
"The same reason as you. Checking on Trish," he vaguely answered. He looked at Doc Patmae and I watched her brows scrunch with confusion. Uno shifted his weight. "Can I get an answer now? Anong nangyari?" He demanded.
"She passed out," mabilis na sagot ni Doc PatMae. She glanced at me again, bago binalik kay Uno ang tingin. "She's menstruating -- heavy flow, and scrubbed in to assist us in the surgery. She probably got dizzy and passed out."
Uno looked at me again. "Are you okay?"
"She is," Doc Patmae answered the same time I opened my mouth to respond. Uno's eyes flash hints of irritation but he's trying to hide it. He looked at Doc PatMae again.
"I'm asking Trish, Doc, thank you. You may leave us now, ako nang bahala," he coldly said.
Gulat akong napatingin kay Doc Patmae bago binalik kay Uno ang tingin. Tinaas ko ang kamay at winasiwas, trying to control the situation. "I'm okay! Okay lang! Okay lang din na nandito si Doc Patmae...po," habol ko.
Uno's dark gaze now shifted to me. Halata nang hindi nagugustuhan ang nangyayari. Pero ako ba nagugustuhan ko? I equalled his gaze, I wont backdown to those eyes again. Salubong na ang kilay ni Uno nang tumikhim si Doc Patmae sa gilid.
"It's okay," she chuckled awkwardly. She was smiling but it didn't reach her eyes. Which shows a lot of emotions I cannot read. Confusion at top of everything. "I'll leave you both, uhm...Doc De Silva. I'll check our patient in the other room anyway," she said and left.
As soon as the door closed, hinampas ko ng mahina ang braso ni Uno. "Ano yun?!"
"Anong ano yun?" He said equally irritated. Galit ko siyang tinignan at tinuro ang pinto. "Bakit pinaalis mo?"
"Anong gusto mo? Panoorin niya tayo?" Pabalang niyang sagot. May point siya pero pakiramdam ko mali pa rin yung ginawa niya. "Bakit nagagalit ka? She's okay with it," irap niya.
"She's not okay with it. She looked kind of hurt," laban ko pa. Uno snorted and looked at me sarcastically. "Eh ikaw, okay ka ba na nandito siya?" he retorted.
Napakunot ang noo ko as I looked back at him. Hindi ko alam ang isasagot ko. I'm not okay with her being here but I still think it's not right na paalisin namin siya. Wala naman siyang ginagawang mali.
"Stop considering other people over yourself, Trish. You're not comfortable with her presence, and we both know it. It's not like I forced her out anyway," he said in a bored tone. He then put the plastic he's carrying on the table. "Kumain ka na ba? Bumili ako ng goto sa baba," he offered.
