Y/N POV

I peacefully meditate in the void when I feel my ring being put on. Once my ring settles I am given a clear view of the world and smile seeing my partner.

Y/N: "What's the job this time?"

Summer: "Got a village that needs some Grimm to be killed."

Y/N: "How many?"

Summer: "Sources say thirty or more."

Y/N: "They stand no chance against us."

Summer smiles and gathers her weapon. She holsters her weapon, throws on her hood and heads to a separate bedroom. She walks to a crib and kisses the forehead of her one week old daughter.

Y/N: "She looks so much like you."

Summer: "Yeah, I can't wait to see the woman she turns into."

Y/N: "You know one day you'll have to tell her about me right?"

Summer: "I know. I'm still thinking about how to tell her."

Y/N: "I think the best way is to just say outright."

Summer: "Maybe."

Summer closes the bedroom door and walks to the front door where we find her husband Tai.

Tai: "You off already?"

Summer: "Yes."

Tai: "Be safe."

Summer: "I will. As long as I have Y/N, I'll be fine."

They share a kiss then part ways. Summer hops aboard an airship and we patiently wait for our airship to land. After an hour we finally do and arrive at a rustic village right next to a patch of woods.

Y/N: "Did the people say where the Grimm are?"

Summer: "Reports say they are mostly spotted near a reservoir in the woods."

Y/N: "Then that's where we'll check."

Summer: "Right. Emerge."

The runes on my ring glow and I am brought into the real world. Summer joins my side and we begin walking into the woods. When we get a hundred yards into the woods I whistle and have a cardinal land on my hand. It then starts chirping.

Summer: "What's it saying?"

Y/N: "Says the reservoir is another hundred yards west. Plus it says she's a girl not an it."

Summer: *laughs* "Right, sorry Mrs. bird."

The cardinal flies off and we continue on our walk. Pretty soon we arrive at the reservoir and see Grimm ranging from Borbatuskes to Ursai gathering and drinking.

Summer: "You see them?"

Y/N: "Yes. They're just drinking and resting. I count a hundred or so. How do you want to do this?"

Summer: "Like we always do, covering each other."

Y/N: *smiles* "Right."

We draw our weapons and on the count of three we charge out from behind cover. I fire six shots and hit six Ursai. A Beowolf charges at me but I fire at its knee and make it fall. I swing my sword and behead it as it passes me. I look right and see an Ursa Major ready to claw at Summer. I raise my foot and stomp the ground enough to knock the Ursa Major off balance and allow Summer to cut it in half. I smile when something bites my leg; I look down and growl seeing a Borbatusk biting my leg. I bring my foot back and kick the Borbatusk into a Beowolf with enough force to obliterate the Beowolf's head and kill the Borbatusk.

I hear a yell and turn around to see Summer struggling with an Ursa. I fire at the Ursa's back catching its attention. It charges at me full speed ready to end me. I smile, holster my gun and hold out my left hand. The Ursa crashes into my hand and comes to a dead stop. I raise the Ursa off the ground and skewer its chest with my sword. I turn to Summer to see her smiling.

Summer: "I had that."

Y/N: "I know."

We holster our weapons and look around to not find anymore Grimm.

Y/N: "That seems to be the last of them."

Summer: "Another job well done."

We begin walking away when a gunshot is heard and Summer screams in pain. I run to her and use my body to protect her; I look around but don't see anyone. I examine her wound and see she's hurt bad.

Y/N: "We need to get you help."

I pick her up bridal style and run as fast as I can. As I run I see Summer closing her eyes.

Y/N: "Stay with me Summer."

Summer: "I'm so... tired."

Y/N: "Try to hang on a little longer."

I look forward and see the roof top of a home. I smile seeing the village but stop feeling this sense of dread in me. I look where it's coming from and see a pale skinned woman walking to us.

Y/N: "Who are you?"

Woman: "My name isn't important, what is, is my goal."

I look at Summer and withdraw my gun.

Y/N: "You will not take her."

Woman: "I'm not after her, I'm after you."

I holster my gun and take off in a dead sprint away from this woman. I keep running until I stop almost going off a cliff. I look down and groan since the jump will only worsen Summer's injury. I go to turn around but am met with that pale woman.
