(Brief mention of nudity)

Modesty was a virtue lost when traveling with a company of dwarves to reclaim their home. Most days, you barely stopped to rest  so bathing was a luxury. Unfortunately, it was a luxury you had to share with the males. There was usually no time to bathe on your own which meant stripping down and diving into whatever body of water you were near along with the rest of the Company. However, this time was different.

Thorin had granted everyone a day of rest. You set up camp and the dwarves and hobbit instantly headed for the water. You decided, since you had time, to wait until they were done. Sure, you had gotten used to seeing ALL of them, but that didn’t mean you didn’t value privacy now and then. This time you’d be able to actually enjoy your time without being surrounded by them.

As you heard the rest of the Company heading back to camp, you gathered up your belongings. You smiled at all the Company when you passed by them. You were so intent on what you were doing, you didn’t notice that one member of the Company was missing. And of course it was the one you’d been developing feelings for over the last few weeks. Kili.

It wasn’t until you were already naked and in the water that you noticed him. In fact, it seemed that was the same time Kili noticed you. His face turned bright red. “Y/N! S-Sorry!” You smiled at him. He always got red when you bathed. The other dwarves had gotten used to it for the most part. Except maybe Ori, who always had his eyes covered by Dori until you were completely covered by the water. “It’s fine, Kee. I didn’t realize anyone was still here.” Kili shrugged.

“I found this cave behind the waterfall over there. I didn’t notice the others left. I could leave if you’d like.” It was your turn to shrug. “It’s up to you. It is not as if you haven’t seen me without clothing before, Kili.” Kili turned even more red, making you laugh. You loved to tease him every once in a while. He was adorable when he blushed.

“I thought you wanted to be alone,” he muttered, refusing to meet your gaze again. “I don’t mind your company. Actually, I prefer it.” He looked at you in surprise. “Really?” You nodded with a smile that Kili returned. “I think I prefer your company as well.” You scoffed and replied, “You think?” Kili laughed, making you shove him playfully.

Your time in the water continued on much like that. Little teasing comments between you and Kili as you attempted to get clean. That was easier said than done with Kili around. He liked to randomly splash, sending waves of water into your face. “KILI!” you shrieked and swam away from him. He swam after you each time, laughing as you kicked water up at him. You were enjoying yourself so much that you lost all track of time.

The sun was high in the sky when you stopped and looked at Kili again. He looked at you with an expression that looked like adoration. “Kili?” you asked. He reached out a hand. “Come with me?” You nodded without hesitation. Taking his hand, you let Kili lead you over to the waterfall he’d been talking about earlier. You stopped swimming just before the mouth of the cave he’d mentioned.

Kili turned to look at you again. He seemed nervous. “Kee?” He opened his mouth to say something and then closed it again. “Come on, Kili. I don’t bite…unless you ask me too.” He blushed again, making you laugh. Kili laughs a little too, but you can tell there’s something on his mind. You stop laughing. “Kili? What is it?” Instead of answering, Kili gets as close as he can in the water and wraps his arms around you.

You felt yourself heat up as your mind realized that your naked chests were pressed together. For a moment, time froze. Your stared into Kili’s dark eyes. An eternity seemed to pass you both leaned closer until your lips met. The moment your lips touched, everything around you seemed amplified. The sound of the pounding waterfall was only matched by the feeling of your heart ramming against your chest. Your eyes fell shut as you let the feeling engulf you.

The kiss lasted for what felt like hours. You didn’t mind in the least. While you had come to the river with the intention of being alone, you weren’t going to complain about the outcome. How could you? You had kissed the dwarf you were in love with. “Y/N?” You hummed, not opening your eyes yet. Kili chuckled and placed a hand on your face. You let your eyes drift open to look at him. “I love you,” Kili whispered. You almost didn’t hear him under the waterfall. You smiled before kissing him softly again. “And I love you.”

“KILI! Y/N!” the voices of the Company carried, echoing off the walls of the cave behind you. With a frustrated sigh, Kili pulled away from you. You’d been gone longer than you thought. So long that the others had come looking for you. Kili took your hand again and the two of you swam back out. The others cheered when they realized the two of you had been “missing” together. You felt your skin heat again as you flushed. You were never going to live this down. But it seemed like Kili didn’t care because he stopped and pulled you into yet another kiss.
