Kili never thought people like you existed. Fairies. No one truly believed in them. They were the stuff of fairy tales. And yet, here you were. Your (f/c) wings were stretched out behind you as you took to the sky. Obviously, you were a good addition to the Company. You could fly ahead and scout out places to camp or see if there were any enemies headed your way. You were also very strong, stronger than anyone would think. "Kili, you're being too obvious," Fili told his brother, who rolled his eyes.

As you floated through the sky, your eyes scanned the area below you, but your mind was all over the place. You weren't even sure how you'd ended up traveling with the Company, but you definitely didn't regret it. You had met so many wonderful friends you didn't think was possible. And you had grown especially fond of Kili.

Kili was charming and sweet and often times reminded you of a puppy. He was fiercely loyal and protective. At first, his childish ways rubbed you the wrong way, but you soon grew to find them endearing. It was part of who Kili was and, as much as you tried to deny it, you loved it. You loved him. But no one loved a fairy. Those who believed in your kind believed that you were either wish granters or bad omens.

You sighed and flew back to where the Company was waiting. Your small group had just barely escaped the goblin tunnels and you had to admit, you weren't ready for anything else just yet. "The path ahead appears to be clear. I will fly up and check behind us." Without waiting for a response, you took to the sky again, but not before meeting Kili's dark gaze. You smiled and continued up.

"You ought to tell her how you feel, Kili," Fili said, turning and sharpening one of his knives like he always did when the Company wasn't moving. A moment later, they heard your voice. You sounded frantic and scared. "ORCS!" In an instant, the Company started running. They didn't get far before they found themselves in a tree. Kili took a chance to glance up at you and wished he hadn't.

Just as he looked up, one of Azog's followers lit an arrow and shot at you. Your scream echoed through the night. The flaming arrow had hit one of your wings. You immediately began plummeting toward the earth. Luckily, you were close enough to the tree that Kili was able to reach out and grab you. He pulled you up onto the branch with him. You were crying, not from the loss of your wing, but from the pain.

You screamed again when the tree you were all sitting in began to fall. Kili caught your hand as you were about to fall. "Hold on, Y/N!" You were beginning to slip from his grip. "Please, Y/N, hold on!" You looked up and mouthed something to him. Kili was too stunned to reply for a second. It was as if time slowed down. Before he had a chance to answer, you slipped from his hold and fell. Kili screamed your name, his eyes watering as you began to disappear.

He didn't have long to mourn. The eagles appeared and plucked the Company out of the trees. Kili's eyes never left the place where you had fallen and he let his tears fall. He never got the chance to reply to the words you'd mouthed to him. He never got the chance to tell you that he felt the same. That he loved you too.

He blinked away the tears forming in his eyes again. More and more eagles rose up from the smoke, but Kili couldn't bring himself to appreciate their majesty. Not when you were lost to him forever. Then, out of the darkness below, Kili saw a glimmer of (f/c). He let himself hope as the eagle drew closer. Sure enough, there you were. He couldn't tell if you were still alive, but at least he could see you.

When the eagles set them all down, Kili immediately ran over to you. "Y/N?" He didn't care that he would appear weak in front of the others. He had to know if you were alright. He cupped your cheek and pushed a strand of hair from your face. "Y/N? Please, wake up. I have to tell you that I love you too. Please."

"You do?" Kili's eyes widened as yours opened, revealing the (e/c) gaze he loved so much. "You're alive," he whispered and you nodded, coughing a little. You sat up, wincing at the feeling of your injured wing. The others quickly dispersed, leaving you and Kili alone. "You love me, Kili?" He grinned at you and confirmed. "Why?"

"What do you mean why?" You frowned slightly. "No one loves fairies, Kili." Kili rolled his eyes and cupped your cheek again. "That, love, is where you're wrong. I love you so much it almost hurts. When you fell, my heart stopped. My entire world froze at the thought of losing you. I have loved you for long, I was beginning to think I would explode if I didn't tell you." You smiled. "I love you too, Kili. So very much." Kili leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips before scooping you up in his arms and standing. "Come let's see if there's something we can do for your injuries, Amrâlimê."
