Erebor had been reclaimed and the days of celebration never seemed to end. Thorin's coronation was yet another reason to celebrate, but Dwalin was far too worried to do much drinking or dancing. He watched as you sat down next to Fili with a smile on your face. Dwalin was just having a difficult time accepting the face that you, his only daughter, were being courted by his best friend's nephew.

You giggled at something Fili said as your gaze traveled to where your father was sitting. He was watching you intently, his eyes seemingly glued to the courting braid in your thick (h/c) locks. Fili followed your gaze before giving your hand a squeeze. "Go talk to him, Amrâlimê," Fili whispered to you. You smiled at him. He always seemed to know what you were thinking. You knew your father liked Fili, so you didn't understand why he seemed so against your courting.

"Adad," you greeted when you approached your father. Dwalin gave you a warm smile. The one he reserved for you and your mother. "Y/N, are ya enjoyin' yerself?" he asked and you nodded. Then you frowned playfully and said, "I would be having more fun if my father would quit trying to burn a hole in my suitor's head." Dwalin's eyes narrowed. "Yer my only daughter and I don't wanna let ya go ta just anyone."

"He's not just anyone. It's Fili! The nephew of your best friend. Raised to be a gentleman. He loves me, Adad and I love him," you told him, a sad smile on your face. Dwalin crossed his arms over his chest in defiance. It was clear he still was unhappy about it. So, you finally said the one thing you knew would get your father on your side, or more importantly, Fili's side.

"He's my One," you whispered, but you knew your father's keen ears would hear you. "Yer One? Are ya certain?" You nodded. You and Fili had recently come to the realization and Fili was eager to put a betrothal bead in your hair. First, the both of you had to talk to Dwalin and get his blessing. Dwalin's eyes softened when he saw the tears glistening in yours. He wrapped his strong arms around you and gave you a squeeze. "My daughter has found her One," he whispered.

"Yer growin' up, Y/N. Soon ya will be a wife and havin' bairn of yer own." You blushed at the thought. "Adad! Fili and I are not even betrothed!" you whispered harshly with a giggle. Dwalin arched a brow. "Aye, but I was young once too and I know exactly what goes through yer mind at that age." Your eyes widened and you scolded him quietly. Dwalin chuckled as he hugged you again.

"Go on. Go back ta him before he starts poutin' like a wounded puppy." You looked over your shoulder and found Fili's eyes on you both. "Tell him ya have my blessing." You kissed his bearded cheek and said, "Thank you, Adad." You walked away from Dwalin, missing the tears in his eyes. His daughter, the light of his life, had found her One.
