My eyes are the first thing to be affected. They turn blood red for the lack of it. Then, I start to create excessive saliva as if I were really hungry and then my body temperature slowly rises to the point where I sweat like crazy. That's when I wait for three days. The good thing is. I always have Sapphire by my side so I don't have to worry.

AGE: 17 GENDER: MALE (VAMPIRE) YEARS SINCE INCIDENT: 7

"Hey Sapphire- Can I talk to you in private for a minute?" I mutter in her ear.

We've made up a code for these cravings. Each statement is a different degree.

"Hey! Let's talk for a second!" – Just in case.

"Hey, can I talk to you in private for a minute?" –Moderate.

The action of slipping my hand into hers and squeezing it means now.

"Excuse us for a second!" Saying that while grabbing her means I can't wait.

"Sure give me a minute." She whispers back.

"I'll be in the garden where we always go." I say again softly and then head out to our hiding place.

The place in the garden we go is a hollowed out bush with a small entrance. The elementary, junior high, high school, and college all surround the garden. It made it easy on us when we moved up grades. I was happy that we didn't have to try.

"Here!" Sapphire smiled. "Your eyes don't look bad." She grinned.

I smirked. "Yea but you have a school trip tomorrow that flows into the weekend. You'll be gone for five days. I have to make sure I don't choke someone." I teased as I played with her hair.

Turning around, she leaned back into me. Instantly, I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her against my chest. I could sense her blood and sense every vein. Holding back, I let her feel my breath on her neck before I sunk in. I always let the guilt rush through me before I plunged because then I could control when to stop. One of the first times I took Sapphire's blood she passed out. When I saw that I forced myself off of her and carried her to the hospital. I tried to explain to them what I did but they just took a blood pouch and said she just lost too much blood is all.

Slipping my hand into her. I held on tightly as I bit into her neck. Letting out a quiet moan she squeezed my hand lightly and let me go. Grip tightening I bit down harder. Each person had a different taste of blood I came to find. One day I was curious at my grandfather's funeral while no one was around and I bit into his hand. I could taste the preservatives. It wasn't the best. Sapphire's blood is my favorite. She taste like strawberries and well—blood. Letting out a small groan I bit into her harder.

So—good... I thought to myself as she held my hand.

When she knew that she couldn't take it anymore she'd squeeze my hand twice. That's when I would let go. Doing so, I slowly released my grip on her neck and licked her wound. Kissing it, she waiting until I was done to release my hand and lay back into me more.

"What would you do without me?" She tiredly laughed.

Kissing the front of her neck I laughed. "I'd be an insane vampire who'd drink till the person dropped dead."

Giggling, she faced me and fell into my arms with her eyes closed.

"Good thing I'm here then." She said relieved.

Holding her up, I opened a Snickers bar and held it to her lips.

"Ah..!" I mimicked the sound she would make with her mouth in order to open it.

"Ah.." She mumbled.

I laughed. "You let me have more than normal. You know you should be careful about that."

Taking a couple of more bites out of the Snickers she looked up at me with her tired eyes.

"I want to make sure you don't go ape shit on someone, Jake." She giggled. "Not while I can help it." She said quietly as she kissed me on the check.

All her boyfriends hated me. Always asking to be alone with her... I didn't blame them. They had the right. But only if people would believe me. May be then things would change.
