I can feel the wind around me
The clouds as they cool
The temperature of my scales
Not that there’s much
Since my blood is cold
Either way
I emerge from the ocean,
Cast a shadow in the night
From the caves
My speed builds, all around me, as I start to scream
The screeching from my vocal cords
I can be heard for miles
Across the sea and ocean floors, in the sky,
Do you hear me?
Beautiful we are
Mysterious and wondrous
Protective as we are
Who knew?
That the stories were true?
Mythical creatures
Spread their wings
Featured or reptilian
Older than countries to be
Stories, interrupting the scenes
Of the past days
“Here there be, Dragons”
“Ay, I heard them sing.”
“I’d watch from the open seas.”
“Guardians…”
“Lovers of many treasures,
Looking for the many luster complexities.”
All around the world
Norse,
Western,
Chinese.
Specifically-
Native Americans,
Even in Egypt.
Explanations for the stealing
The ones who guided
Curses and healed
Those people who were jaded
Weak
Humble to see
Not human
But an idea that they seek
“Here There be Dragons.”
Believe to be the savors of the world
But also the devils of our being
