B.A.N.S

Sean laid in bed feeling like a ton of bricks laid on his chest. A bottle of whiskey sat on his dresser next to him. Taylour was hurting him in every way possible. First, she ignored him after seeing Michelle and now talking about divorce. She wouldn't even allow him to pick her up from the Hospital when she was released. He decided to go and clear his mind after she dropped the divorce nonsense on him. He drove until he couldn't drive anymore and found himself at the park where he proposed. He sat there for hours watching the sun go down remembering the exact moment he asked her to marry him. Sean had timed the proposal with the sunset.

He remembered it like it was yesterday. Spring of 2004 and she had never looked more beautiful. Taylour wore a rose pink and green halter flower dress. Her hair came just to her shoulders and she had on matching green sandals. No makeup other than lip gloss and gold hoop earrings. Sean told her that they were just going for a walk and when they got to the park to her surprise there was a picnic laid out for them. He had Mike and Sharice set it up. Walking in the grass, there were children playing in the distance. Swinging on swings and chasing one another. Taylour sat in between his legs with her back against his chest. She played with his fingers as they sat in silence each lost in their own thoughts. He envisioned what it would be like to be there with her and one day their own children. Sean knew Taylour would make a great mother and incredible wife. He was just afraid she wouldn't say yes to being HIS wife. She had been hurt so much and trusted him with all the love she had inside of her. He did all that he could to prove that he was worthy and capable of being entrusted with her precious heart. Every time he would bring up marriage, she would either make an ugly face or change the subject altogether. Sean knew she was what and who he would spend the rest of his life. But needed her to see the same in him. Taylour had been reluctant to get married because she believed every marriage would end up failing and she didn't want to be added to the list of the failed ones as she would call them. She would tell him time and time again "Marriage is never what it seems. Someone is always deceitful and selfish. Leaving the unsuspecting spouse hurt, emotionally battered, and ashamed. Ashamed that they were stupid enough to trust that this person would be different." She spoke with a distaste for marriage because of the way her mother and stepfather ended. Sean sighed inwardly. He tried to steady the rate of his heartbeat by couldn't help the beating drum within his chest. He was going to ask the only woman he ever loved to be his partner, best friend, lover, and his wife. As if she could sense tension within him she looked up at him. Puckering her lips towards him, he kissed her and they continued to watch the sun begin to set. There was a breeze that blew over them as if their love was in the wind. He wrapped his arms around her stomach.

"Taylour?"

"Yes."

"Are you cold?" He asked searching for the right words to say.

"No baby I'm not cold." She continued to stare at the colorful sky. Clouds parted allowing the sun to walk through illuminating colors of orange and lavender. It was the most breathtaking sky anyone could have the opportunity to see.

"Tay do you remember when we first started dating?"

"Yeah I remember," she said smiling at the thought of their beautiful beginning.

"Do you remember what you told me the night we got together?" He asked with his chin on her forehead.

"I said a lot of things, babe." She chuckled.

"You asked me to be careful with your heart and to give 100% all the time."

"Haha, that sounds like something I would say."
