Promise Rings

Niall's POV:

The day flew in and i'm gonna go to Cara's room to give her a surprise.

I knocked politely and she answered.

"Hello, I got ya something," I walked in and gave her a kiss. I whipped out a plane ticket to Mullingar and handed it to her. The look on her face was priceless.

"Thanks so much, I can't wait!" She hugged me. "Your mum knows we are going right?" She asked.

"Yeah I called her a few days ago," I sat down on her bed. "I was talking to my brother, Greg and his fiancé and they all can't wait to meet you. I can't wait to see my new nephew," I said. Cara smiled and sat beside me.

"So what do you want for your birthday? It is in a few days, you know,"

"I dont want anything from you." I put my arm around her. "Classes are over, wanna go out around town? Go to that new milkshake shop?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'll drive," she stood up. "Let's go," she held her hand out.

"If you crash my car, I'll kill ya," I laughed and handed her the keys.

We buckled our seat-belts and pulled out of the collage parking lot.

"Can we go for the milkshake then go shopping? I wanna get new clothes for Mullingar, I'll buy you some new outfits too" I smiled.

"No, I'm gonna buy you some outfits and they can be part of your birthday present. You'll get your big gift before we go to Mullingar," she smiled back, focusing on the road.

"If you insist" I joked, switching on my Bon Jovi CD, singing along to all the songs.

It was a dull day and looked like it was going to rain anytime soon.

We held hands and walked into the small milkshake shop. We both ordered Oreo milkshakes.

We sat down at a table by the shop window. We both took a sip of our milkshakes.

"These are delicious," I said, drinking more. Cara nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, nice little place this is," she looked around admiring it. "You looking forward to turning the big 2.0?"

"Yeah, being 20 should be good," I said, drinking more of my milkshake.

We walked around a few shops and got some outfits each. So far I got three outfits and some snapbacks.

She bought all of my clothes, so that was really nice of her.

"It's getting very cold, innit?" I said, putting on the hoodie I bought.

"Yeah, "she agreed and zipped up her coat. I carried most of the bags, like a true gentleman does.

We walked into more shops and Cara got a few pairs of shoes. We had enough clothes for Mullingar, so we decided to go back to the school.

I carried my bags to my room and I gave Blake the t-shirt I got him.

"Tanks, man," he said.

"No problemo and Jess, Cara got you a handbag or something. It's in her room," I smiled, putting the bags on my bed.

"Okay, thanks" she smiled back.

I closed the door and walked up to Cara's room. I chatted to some guys off the basketball team as I was walking down the hall.

Cara's door was open, I stepped in and saw her putting her new clothes in her wardrobe and drawers.

"Hey, babe," I greeted.

"What's up?" She asked, putting her bags in the bin.

"I have something for ya" I pulled two silver promise rings from my pocket. Her face lit up when she saw them. "Just to show how committed I am,"

I shyly looked at the floor and got on one knee. I looked up at her. "Cara, will you accept this promise ring?" I joked and placed it on her finger.

"I love it, thank you!" She pulled me into a tight hug.

"My ribs are getting so much better so we'll be able to have some fun soon," I joked.
"Do ya have any deep heat or cream or something I can put on it?" I asked.

"I think Jess has something," she searched Jess' drawer.

"when she sprained her knee she was using a cream..." she kept looking and pulled out a blue tube. "Here," she handed it to me.

"Her knee was better in less than a week," she informed me and I took it.

I lifted my shirt up and rubbed the cream on my ribs. "Shit it's cold."

"Your bruises are going away too," she noticed, touching my faded bruises.

"Yeah, what time is it?" I pulled my shirt back down.

"Almost 9."

"Already?" I double checked my watch. "The days are flying in. Soon we'll be on a plane to Mullingar," I smiled, pulling our bodies together. It hurt my ribs region but I enjoyed the closeness.

"Yeah, J'm so looking forward to meeting your mum, your brother, his fiancé, what's her name?" She asked.

"Denise," I confirmed.

"Denise and your nephew," she said touching my nose.

"Can't wait to meet the little chap. Anyway K'm knackered and i'm gonna go to bed," I said, kissing her.

"Alright, love ya," she replied.
