Chapter 6

*Riley*

"I'm going to go talk to Maya, Farkle!" I yelled from the door.

He walked into the living room.

"About..?" Farkle said, his voice trailing off

"Lucas. What esle?"

"Oh boy, good luck with this talk and I had nothing to do with it, okay?" Farkle said, giving me a kiss on the cheek

"Whatever. I'll be back soon"

I walked across the hall and knocked on her door. It took her a while to open up the door. When she did, her eyes were puffy and red. I walked in.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I was singing 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' and it just got to me.." Maya said, sniffling.

I didn't know whether or not to believe her but my first instinct was to. So I did.

"Go wash your face and then we can sing a happier song"

"Okay"

She went down the hallway and made a left to the bathroom. She came back in a couple minutes and her eyes weren't as red and puffy as they were before.

"You ready?" Maya said, grabbing her guitar.

"Yup" I said.

Then we sang 'Stronger' by Kelly Clarkson. It wasn't as sad as 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' so it was good.

Woah, Maya was really good I thought.

I knew Maya could sing but never thought this well. I think She sang better than Kelly Clarkson did. She should get signed by a record label.

When we finished, Maya poured us both a cup of lemonade and then we sat down.

"So?" Maya said, sipping her lemonade.

"So" I replied.

"What brings you to the lands of Mayaville?"

"Just wanted to talk"

"About?"

Her voice was trailing off. I think she was worried.

Then, suddenly we got a knock on the door. Maya put down her cup of juice and answered.

It was Lucas.

"Oh, Huckleberry. Are you here to talk to me too?"

Lucas laughed. "No, I bought you a mug to repay for the one smashed"

Lucas handed her a brown bag. Maya opened it and it was a beautiful cup with an 'M' on it. It was dark and stary and described Maya best.

Maya stood there.

"Well, I don't know what to say"

"You can say 'Thank You, you handsome boy' "

Maya laughed. "Yeah...I'm never saying that. Ever"

"Well, it was worth a shot. Oh hey, Riley. I didn't even see you there"

"Hi Lucas and bye Maya. Farkle just texted me saying he wants to take me out so I better get going" I said.

"Well, okay. Have fun" Maya yelled.

"Bye, Riley" Lucas said.

Farkle wasn't taking me out. He was watching TV at the living room. I just lied to get out of there.

It was too adorable to handle.
