My Happy Pill

Figurative poem by Mary Joy Luabinia

My dog is my ray of sunshine

when I go home and he smiled.

All my stressed are fading out

the way he barks.

His tail wags upon seeing me

and I laugh when he tries to jump on me.

The way he show me his teeth makes me giggle

I can say he's my happy pill.

From the author:

I used personification in my poem, and I described and used my dog as my subject. Because he is my sunshine, he is the one who makes me laugh whenever I have problems and just hearing his bark makes me feel happy because I feel his presence and I know that he cares for me even though we don't understand each other by speaking because he can't speak but I feel his care just by hearing his bark when he sees me and he sniff my body to understand what I' feeling.

If I could compare him to anything in this world that would be my lip tint. I can't live without my lip tint and so as I can't live without my dog. He has been my source of happiness ever since he was born and I took care of him since he was 1 month old and now he is 1 year and 5 months.

I can't afford to lose him. I can't lose my lip tint too because I'm anemic and I can't go out when I feel like I'm very pale.
