You sighed for the umpteenth time. It could never be easy for anyone to open up about the past they want to forget.

"Hey Y/N", Claire sat beside you not too close unlike what she always did.

"Hey. Yesterday I had something to tell you but the circumstances didn't allow me."

She nodded understandingly.

"Did they Namjoon tell you about us?", you asked straightforward, "If not I'll tell, that's the purpose us meeting here."

Claire cleared throat, "I know about you both but I didn't know it was you, if that makes sense.", she fumbled nervously, "Joon have always talked about you but never once mentioned your name. For me, I never asked him too, thought it's something he should willingly do and even if he doesn't, that's also fine."

She paused before speaking again,"But I should have known, the moment I introduced you both in your commissary, the way you both went numb at once... I should have guessed that you're the first love he talks about."

To that you snapped, "Namjoon used to say that too. Maybe, I was his first love and he was mine. I've always heard people say, memories of first love are special but for me it's so bitter that I barely remember the sweet part."

"Y/N, no one can replace you----"

"You replaced me Claire", you said sternly.

"I didn't replace you. I could never. It's just, I'm his soul--"

You scoffed, "Soulmate? That didn't work for me either. My soulmate rejected because he loves you."

Claire froze.

As the moments passed by, the silence become suffocating.

"Jungkook was my soulmate.", your throat closed up as you spoke further, "And he rejected me because he loves you."

"Yesterday after you left, I noticed how both Joon & specially Kook were disturbed. And trust me, I was hoping that my hunch is wrong. But clearly not. I can only guess what you went through because of Jungkook--"

"Claire", you looked at her sharply, "let's not talk about that. I just wanted you know that me & Namjoon had a past otherwise it would have not been fair to you, that's what I thought atleast."

She nodded, "I appreciate it. But Y/N, Joon still regrets--"

"That's something I'm not willing to listen from you even though you're his soulmate and soon to be wife.", you shook head, "I'm sorry if I'm coming out rude and I don't expect you to understand where I'm coming from but please don't talk on behalf of others. That's more kinda unacceptable."

"It wasn't easy for me as well, Y/N.", she said before going quiet. You nodded and decided to take your leave.

But before going you walked to her and grabbed her hands, "I don't want to ruin our friendship over this but if you don't want me here I understand. Just tell me if so and I'll leave."

To that Claire immediately retorted, rather holding your hands tightly, "Y/N, please don't. I want you here. You're one of the genuine friends have I've made. I really admire you and our friendship so please it's my request."

You hugged her immediately, eyes tearing,"I'm glad this ended well. I was afraid that I'd loose you and that's what I really expected when I walked out this morning."

And though it tasted bitter in your mouth, you spoke honestly, "All of it makes sense. I can see why they love you so fiercely."

"But Jungkook...."
