Chapter 24

"Okay, I got the test results back," Dr. Roberts said as he entered the room and smiled softly at Lynn. "I got some good news and some bad news."

"Well?" Sean asked as he stood by Lynn. "What are the results?"

"Your throat is recovering but it is still severely damaged. The good news is that since it was just bleach and lemon there is a high chance of your vocal cords being able to heal. I still can't tell how damaged your vocal cords are so I can't tell if it will be possible for you to gain your voice back but with your throat healing there is hope, I'm sorry Lynn."

Lynn sighed and nodded softly. Thank you she signed to Dr. Roberts and he nodded.

"You are healing Lynn," he said softly. "You are making progress, remember that okay?" She nodded. "I want you to come back in a couple of weeks so we can see how you are doing."

She nodded again and looked down at her hands. "Come on, Pookie," Sean said as he held his hands out. "Let's go let everyone know how the appointment went."

She looked at his hands for a little bit then slowly placed her hands in his. He smiled softly then led her out to his car. He buckled her in then hit a few buttons on his dash before pulling out into traffic.

"Report," Owen's voice filled the car.

"Pookie is healing," Sean smiled while glancing at her.

"What about her vocal cords?" Axel asked.

"Still can't tell," Sean said while grabbing one of her hands and squeezing softly. "They are still too damaged to see if she will gain her voice back, but Dr. Roberts did say she is healing and making progress. He has hope since it was just bleach and lemons and not more severe chemicals. He wants to see her again in two weeks to see how she is doing."

"Are you heading back to the mansion?" North asked. "It's almost lunch time and she needs to eat."

"Actually, I was thinking we eat out," Sean said causing her to look at him in shock. "It will do good to get out of the house and spend time as a family. We should celebrate that she is healing."

"That's a great idea," Victor said. "We will meet you at the diner. North is on the phone with Uncle so he can get a head start on making food for all of us."

Once they got to the diner Lynn saw the rest of the team waiting for them. "Hey Sis," Jess smiled as she hugged her. "Come on, Uncle is already making us something to eat."

She went inside and sat against the window so she could see outside. "Here you go Little Bird," Uncle said as he placed a grilled cheese and vegetable soup in front of her.

Thank you she signed It smells wonderful and he nodded.

"Hey, do you want to go the craft store after we eat?" Jess asked as she took a bite of her own vegetable soup. Lynn shook her head, "how about the bookstore?" Lynn shook her head again. "Hey how about the zoo and see the animals?" Lynn shook her head. "Do you just want to go back to the mansion?" Lynn shrugged and looked out the window. "Is everything okay Lynn?"

She nodded while refusing to look at anyone. Jess casted a look at the guys and frowned slightly. They slightly nodded then went back to eating when they saw her turn away from the window.

Owen's phone rang and he glanced around to make sure the diner was empty. He answered then turned it to speaker. "Mr. Blackbourne, this is Officer Davis, do you know where Lynn Matthews currently is?"

"I'm looking right at her," Owen said while looking into Lynn's fear filled eyes. "Why?"

"Robert Matthews broke out of prison during a riot," Office Davis said causing Lynn to pale and gasp. "I have to go, there are others that broke out as well and it was well orchestrated. That means he had help, I am working on all leads that come in, I just wanted to give you a warning."

"Thank you," Owen said as the officer hung up the phone.

Lynn pushed against Jess while holding her throat. Jessica moved and Lynn rushed to the bathroom with Jessica following.

Owen turned to Raven, "Call your father, see if your cousin is still in the prison or if he was one of the ones that broke out as well."

Raven got on the phone and started talking. A few minutes later he hung up and grinned. "Ivan get out, when make contact Father tell track. Ivan best track almost good ninja Luke."
