Third Person POV

Coffee steaming in front of him, Jim stared down at the brown liquid as he tried to go over what had just happened in his head. He had Flass, he had solid evidence and now... now it was all for nothing cause of some secret drugs investigation they were doing. Yet Jim couldn't help but wonder why they were all ignoring the most important thing that had happened earlier that morning; their damn witness had been murdered right inside their house. How was that not more of a concern to anyone else?

"Listen, Jim. There's something I gotta tell you," Harvey said to his partner, forcing him to look up from his drink. "A few years ago, Flass and his people started busting drug dealers... taking over their stash houses, running them themselves."

Jim stared at Harvey with wide eyes for a few moments in silence as the sound of a siren whizzing past the diner they were sat in sounded.

"Now? You tell me this now?" Jim hissed over at him in frustration.

"Look, I respond to crises as they arise. I'm not a forward planner like you. I didn't tell you then cause I didn't wanna get you riled up," Harvey responded. "But I'm telling you now because I want you to stop." The look on Jim's face told Harvey that out of everything Jim was about to do, stopping was not one of them. "Flass is protected."

"By whom?" Jim asked.

"Serious people," Harvey answered, not giving any direct names, knowing Jim would go for those people to get to Flass. "Really high up. Big money. For all I know, the commissioner gets a piece too. You mess with Flass, you can forget going back to Arkham. These guys do not play. Would you really wanna risk leaving Holly alone just to take down a piece of scum like Flass?"

"These stash houses, think you can get me a location on them?" Jim asked, verbally ignoring everything Harvey had just said. Though in his mind, that exact thought had been whirling around ever since he and Harvey had sat down in the diner.

"Did you not hear a word I said?" Harvey said, seriously concerned that Jim gonna go and get himself killed and Holly would be left with... well, she'd be left with nothing.

"The stash houses can give us evidence linking Flass to Littlefield's murder," Jim explained. "We nail him for Littlefield, we can nail him for Winkler. I can't let it be, Harvey. You should know that by now."

Realising he was going to get nowhere with convincing Jim to change his mind, Harvey nodded and pulled out his phone. Taking this as a sign that Harvey wanted him to leave the table, Jim got up and walked over to the till handing over the money for their cheap coffee.

Holly POV

Our last lesson with Mr Crane was absolutely fascinating! Today we were dissecting an actual eye! It was gross but I was partnered with Tanya so she was making it far more fun than disgusting. Mr Crane was really enthusiastic about his subject which was really quite helpful, it meant that we were also enthusiastic. So as Tanya leant in to do the first step, I couldn't help but watch even though the rational part of me told me to turn away.

"I don't know what we're supposed to be doing," Tanya muttered before she stabbed the pupil.

"Tanya!" I whisper yelled, turning away as the eye started to release a watery black liquid. "That is disgusting."

"It's all slimy," Tanya snorted. "Holly, look at it."

"Nope," I shook my head, trying not to gag as I spared a glance.

"Come on... You know you want to," Tanya encouraged just as I noticed her pick up the dish with the eye.

"I swear if you even think about it..." I warned her, taking a step away from her.
