It was the weekend, all Ellie's brothers were working, she was home with her mom and dad.
Ellie was in the Kitchen with her mom, cutting up vegetables for a salad.
"How was being back at school?" asked Nancy.
"Fine" said Ellie.
"Do understand everything, you have been out for awhile?" asked Nancy.
"Yep" answered Ellie.
"Elizabeth Jane, can we please try and use more than one word for a response" said Nancy.
"Why?" asked Ellie.
She was not in a good mood.
"Because, I want to know about school and how it has been going and everything" said Nancy.
"Why?" asked Ellie with attitude.
"Because I am your mother and now stop with the attitude" said Nancy.
"May I go know I'm done with the salad?" asked Ellie getting her crutches and standing up.
"Yes I suppose so, but you need to change your attitude" said Nancy.
Ellie hobbled off to the living room.
Edward walked in.
"Whats the problem?" asked Edward.
"I don't she has an attitude and is in a bad mood" said Nancy.
"Something must be bothering her" said Edward.
"Well she is certainly not going to tell me what it is" said Nancy.
"I will" said Edward walking off to go talk to her.
"Hey Ellie" said Edward.
"Hi dad" said Ellie.
"Whats the problem kiddo?" asked Edward.
"Nothing, really" said Ellie.
"Then why are you giving your mother such an attitude?" asked Edward, "Thats not like you."
"I'm just tired I'm not use to the long days at school, thats all really" said Ellie.
"Alright if you say so" said Edward.
He got up and kissed her forehead.
"I love you honey" said Edward.
"Love you to dad" said Ellie.
Later that night they had dinner, but no one was home except for Ellie and her parents, Ellie ate in the living room, mostly to avoid talking to her parents.
TJ came in the door.
"TJ come here!" yelled Edward from his office.
"Ya dad" said TJ poking his head in.
"Come in here" said Edward.
"Am I in trouble or something?" asked TJ.
"No" said Edward giving him a look.
"Something is upsetting your sister, she is givng me and your mother and attitude and won' t tell us what is she says she is just tired, but I knowthat is not the case, try and see if you can get it out her" said Edward.
"Sure thing dad, Where is she?" asked TJ.
"The living room" said Edward.
TJ headed off to talk to Ellie.
"Hey Els" said TJ.
"Let me guess, dad sent you in here to talk to me" said Ellie with attitude.
"Come Ellie, we know something is bothering, you can't hide it" said TJ.
"Nothing is wrong" said Ellie giving more attitude.
"Listen I'm not going to talk to you if your going to give me attitude like that" said TJ.
Ellie gave him a serious stink face.
TJ gave her a look back.
"Fine whatever, have an attitude, when you want to talk, let me know" said TJ getting up.
He headed into the kitchen to find food.
"Did you talk to Ellie?" asked Nancy.
"I tried to talk to her, she was rude and gave me an attitude I'm not going to talk to her if she is like that" said TJ, grabbing an apple leaving.
Nancy sighed.
Eventually the rest of her brothers came home.
Ellie was ready for bed and decided that she wasn't going to wait for her brothers to carry her upstairs, she was tired off always needing help. She wasn't a baby.
She started to slowly get up the stairs, but was very wobbly.
Luke then saw her.
"Ellie!" he yelled as he ran to her. She was almost fell over, her voice scared her.
"Go away, I don't need you help" said Ellie with attitude.
Jesse walked in the door and saw the commotion.
"Ellie you can't go up the stairs by yourself, you will fall and hurt yourself" said Luke.
"I do not I'm not a baby" said Ellie giving him an angry look.
"Ellie what is your problem?" asked Luke upset.
"You" said Ellie softly.
"Whatever hurt yourself" said Luke storming off.
Jesse without warning came up behind Ellie and picked her up.
"Hey let me go" said Ellie.
"No" said Jesse.
He knew something was really bothering her, that was the only reason why she would act like this.
"I hate you" said Ellie.
"And I don't care" said Jesse giving her attitude back.
Once up the stairs, he let her go to her room herself.
"What the hells Ellie's problem?" asked Jesse to TJ who was in John's room with John
"I don't mom and dad said somethings bothering her and she has been like this all day. She said she is just tired, but thats not it, she won' tell anyone and is acting like a brat" said TJ.
"She is definetly not herself" said Jesse.
"Did anyone try and talk to her?" asked John.
"I did, and she was mean and gave me an attitude, so I walked away" said TJ.
"Well Luke just did the same thing after she told him he was her problem, and she apparently hates me for carrying her up the stairs so... that leaves you John" said Jesse with smirk.
John gave him a look, but got up and went to Ellie's room.
"Good luck" said Jesse.
"Shut up" said John.
John knocked on Ellie's door.
"Hey Ellie can I talk to you?" asked John.
"Go away" said Ellie once again with attitude.
"Ellie I just want to help you, whats wrong?" asked John.
"Nothing is wrong, why can't you people get that!" yelled Ellie.
"Ellie you don't have to yell about it, if you say nothing is wrong than fine, when you do figure out that there is something wrong let me know" said John walking away.
Jesse and TJ were still in the room.
"I'm going to watch some TV" said John grabbing his phone.
"Well evidently that went well" said Jesse with a little laugh. TJ threw a pillow at him.
The next day Chace and Annie came over, Chace was the only that didn't try and talk to her yet, there was no use to try Will for some reason, he was the first person she attacked last night, he was fed up with her, but at least her tried and talked to her.
Ellie was on the swing. Chace went over to talk to her.
"You to?" said Ellie.
"Ellie what is the problem and don't tell me there isn't one, because I know there is. Is it something at school, are you mad because you back at school, is something picking on you, what is it?" asked Chace.
"Nope" said Ellie.
"Well I'm not leaving until you tell me" said Chace.
"Well than your going to die out here" said Ellie.
Chace gave her a look.
Annie came over.
"Ellie I'm a good listener, do you want to talk to me?" asked Annie.
Ellie likes Annie she had only known her for a few days, but had grown fond of her.
"You?" questioned Ellie, "Definetly not you."
"Hey!" yelled Chace, "Do not be rude to her."
Ellie rolled her eyes.
"Look missy I don't know whats your problem, but that does not give you a right to be rude to everyone" said Chace angry.
Ellie got up without a word and hobbled back the house.
"I seriously don't get it" said Chace.
"She will tell when she wants to" said Annie.
"But I'm not sure how much I can take of this, I'm not sure anyone can take much more" said Chace.
At dinner, Ellie was still being rude and had an attitude.
"Elizabeth Jane I have had enough go lay down in your fathers office, till you have changed your attitude!" yelled Nancy.
Ellie gave her an angry look, but left.
Everyone sat in silence, they all snirked a little.
"Boys it is not funny" said Edward.
"Sorry" they all said.
"You all tried to talk to her right?" said Nancy.
"Ya, but she was rude" said Luke, they all agreed.
Nancy sighed.
"Do think she is upset about being at school?" asked Annie.
"No, she was really excited, at least when I talked to her the day before she was" said John.
"Maybe its a kid at school?" said Will.
"I don't know when i dropped her off, everyone was super excited to see her" said Nancy.
"That could have changed" said TJ.
"What is going to happen, has happend that she missed out on, or possibly something we forgot about" said Jesse.
They all thougt.
Nancy got up.
"I don't know, but she will figure it out eventually and will tell us is she wants to" said Nancy.
Chace then got up
"I will be right back" said Chace.
"Your only going to make it worse" said TJ.
Chace ignored him and went in to the office.
"Ellie" said Chace sitting down next to him.
"So I know you don't want to tell us whats wrong, but why, and don't just say because" said Chace.
Ellie sat up and gave him a look.
"Alright first lets drop the attitude, because its clearly not you" said Chace.
Ellie folded her arms, "Fine."
"Because there is nothing you can do about it" said Ellie.
"Try me" said Chace.
She looked at him.
"Peanut died" said Ellie. (Peanut was her hamster).
"What?" said Chace, "Why didn't you tell us?"
"I did try, friday night, but everyone was to busy and ignored me" said Ellie.
She had tears in her eyes.
"The only one who did listen was Tuck and he can't talk back" said Ellie.
"Sunshine, I'm sorry we werent listening to you, and I am sorry he died" said Chace.
Ellie now was crying.
"I'm sorry I was being rude, and was giving everyone attitude" said Ellie.
"Thank you" said Chace.
Ellie reached for her brother, he picked her up and hugged her.
"I don't really want to go in there" said Ellie.
"Well thats to bad" said Chace.
"Everyone deserves an apology" said Chace.
"Ya I know" said Ellie.
Chace carried her into the dining room and put her down.
Everyone looked up.
Ellie looked at Chace and then wispered in his ear.
"Can you tell them about Peanut?"
Chace smiled.
"So, Peanut died" said Chace.
Everyone got quiet.
"I tried to tell you all friday night, but know would listen" said Ellie, "But that doesn't give me right to be mean and rude to everyone, I'm sorry."
Nancy got up and hugged her and so did everyone else.
That night before dark, they had a mini funeral for Peanut.
