Ellie was walking up the driveway after being dropped off by the bus. Tucker was walking with her. He would always wait at the bus stop for her and was never late. Ellie was whistling as she strolled up the road. TJ pulled up with his truck.
"Hey Red" said TJ.
"Hi TJ" said Ellie.
"How was school?"
"Ok" said Ellie.
"Listen I need you to play the violen for me in a performance this saturday" said TJ.
"Ya sure!" said Ellie.
"Ok good I will go over the music with you later tonight, when I get home, but right now I need to get to class before I'm late" said TJ.
He did a donut in the driveway and sped away.
Ellie shook her head. Their dad hated when they did that, because it messed up the gravel.
Later that night Ellie was sitting on couch, Luke came over and sat down next to her.
She gave him a odd look
"What?" asked Luke.
"You aren't studying?" said Ellie.
"No, Im done" said Luke.
"Since when do you have nothing to do?" asked Ellie.
"Am I not allowed to have free time and spend time with my little sister, who I never spend time with" said Luke.
Ellie smiled
"Fine by me" she said
Luke pulled her close and kissed her forehead.
"TJ told me, you are playing for him this weekend" said Luke.
"Ya about that..." said Ellie.
"What?" asked Luke.
"Well I forgot that I had my championship soccer game saturday. I was so excited about playing for TJ this weekend, that I forgot about soccer, because I haven't played for him in so long" said Ellie.
"Well just tell him you can't" said Luke.
"Ah can you?" asked Ellie.
"Ha no" said Luke, "Why don't you want to tell him? He will understand."
"No he won't last time I backed out, because I was to nervous and he got so mad" said Ellie.
"Ellie" said Luke, "It will be fine"
"No it won't" she said jumping up, "You were studying that night so you weren't there."
The front door opened. Ellie stopped.
"Ellie!" yelled TJ.
"Im out" said Ellie trying to runaway.
"No, your not" said Luke picking her up around the waist and carrying her to TJ.
"She has something to tell you" said Luke.
"No I don't" said Ellie folding her arms.
"Yes you do" said Luke.
He sat her down and walked away.
"Whats up Els?" asked TJ.
"You know when I said that I wanted to do the performance with you saturday..." said Ellie.
"Ya" said TJ questionably.
"Well, I kinda forgot about my championship soccer game" said Ellie cringing.
"How?" said TJ with a little anger.
"Well I was excited to play with you, because I haven't done performance in awhile" said Ellie.
"Ellie! what am I suppose to do I need you!" said TJ.
"I know Im sorry I can't help it" said Ellie.
"Is that soccer game really that important!" said TJ angry.
"Yes, it is to me!" yelled Ellie.
Now they were both yelling.
"Why!" yelled TJ.
"Because this is imporant to me just like you band is important to you!" yelled Ellie.
Nancy was upstairs and heard the yelling and started to head downstairs. Luke also came in.
"I don't really care what you say! Its not like you have ever been to one of my games before!" yelled Ellie.
"Yes I have Ellie!" yelled TJ.
"No you haven't" said Luke chimming in.
"Shut up Luke!" said TJ.
Luke rolled his eyes.
Jesse and John came in the front door and Nancy came down stairs just as Ellie ran out the door.
"Whatever it is fix it" said Nancy.
"Mom, she is ditching my performance which I really need her for, to go to soccer" said TJ.
"She had this commitment to soccer before this performance, I can't make her skip it. Also you need to decide whats more important, that performance, or fixing this problem with your little sister. Remember she is only twelve." said Nancy.
TJ sighed and walked away.
Jesse and Johned carried on their way. Luke headed outside to the swing.
He came up next to her, stopping the swing.
Ellie gave him an angry look.
"Don't listen to TJ" said Luke, "Go to your soccer game, thats more important."
"He doesn't think so" said Ellie.
"It doesn't matter what he thinks" said Luke.
"I just don't want him to be mad at me" said Ellie.
"He has no reason to be mad at you" said Luke.
Ellie looked away.
"Really pumpkin it will be ok" said Luke, "Come on."
He motioned her to climb on his back and she did and her carried her back to the house.
That saturday, Ellie was real skeptical about going to the game. Everyone except TJ was going. No one was going to TJ's performance except TJ. Jesse and John were coming later, they had work.
Ellie was getting ready, when someone knocked on her door. It was Luke.
"Come in" said Ellie.
"You ready?" asked Luke.
"No" said Ellie sadly.
"Why, pumpkin?" asked Luke, "TJ is going to be fine without and you don't need him."
Ellie sighed.
"Come on, I will help you get your spikes and shin gaurds on" said Luke, helping her. They then headed down the stairs to the car and headed to the game.
The game started and then soon Jesse and John arrived. Everyone was on the side lines cheering.
"Go string bean!' yelled Jesse.
"Go Elizabeth Jane!" yelled Nancy and Edward.
The fourth quarter was about to start. Ellie was having fun but still upset.
The game started again. Ellie had the ball and was heading towards the goal. Everyone was yelling and screaming.
She fired the ball at the goal and scored. Everyone was cheering. She looked over at her family. There was TJ smiling and clapping off to the side. Ellie smiled.
Luke walked over to TJ.
"Don't say anything" said TJ.
"I wasn't going to do" said Luke.
"I was a jerk of a brother" said TJ.
Luke smirked.
"Go ahead say it" said TJ.
"Say what?" asked Luke.
"You know" said TJ.
"Yep you where a jerk" said Luke.
TJ and Luke smiled.
The game ended. Ellie ran to her family who hugged her and gave her high fives. They all left then to let her talk to TJ alone.
Ellie slowly walked up to him.
"What happened to your performance?" asked Ellie.
"I skipped a few songs" said TJ smiling.
Ellie smiled back "Thanks"
"Your welcome, I was jerk to you, and I shouldn't have been your my baby sister" said TJ.
"Little sister" said Ellie smiling.
TJ smiled taking her hand. They walked to the truck.
