3 weeks later.
"Have you heard from natalee?" Mark questions maddy.
"No. she hasn't been coming to class lately haven't seen her. i'm worried about her." maddy replied.
"i just wish we could've done something. Why didn't we do anything?!" mark starts yelling.
"ITS not our fault. we didn't know anything."
"we still could've done something! don't even start with me madison. We could've done something. But we did nothing. Nothing. WHY didn't we do anything?!"
"...i'm sorry."
3 weeks ago.
"WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ME TO DO? just sit here knowing you're about to fucking kill yourself and not do anything?!" mark yelled at eddie.
"Mark i fucking trusted you. why?!" eddie asks mark. Mark puts his head down.
"why?" natalee asks. Eddie draws his attention to her. "why eddie? why can you tell me why?" she questions him coldly while tears stream down her face.
Mark hears the rooftop door trying to open so he stops it from opening.
"it's me jackson open the door" mark hears jacksons voice and still refuses to open the door.
"Look natalee its for the best. I've got no family, no friends, and we are gonna graduate soon so what's the point? huh? i've been living in hell my whole life just let me do something that'll make me happy."
"and this is your solution? killing yourself is your solution to everything? what about how your parents will feel? what about your teachers? what about your friends? what about us? what about me? do you think everyone will be happy?" natalee takes a few steps towards eddie.
"..stop. if you come any closer i'll jump off the roof." eddie warns natalee. She still moves towards him slowly.
"goddamit natalee. i hate my life i hate myself. i hate that i'm not normal!" eddie cries and drops the knife on the floor. "don't you see how much pain i'm in? i'm suffering everyday and you're here being selfish just so you can be happy. If you really were my friend you would want me to be happy. And this is how i'm gonna be happy. by leaving this place. by leaving you.. i'm sorry natalee i tried but i couldn't do it." Eddies voice comes out as a whisper but loud enough for both mark and natalee to hear. Natalee falls down to her knees as she cries harder. Mark looks at her with pain feeling his eyes.
"eddie it's still not a solution. you even said it. We are gonna graduate soon. We're gonna become adults. We're gonna be mature enough to accept one another." Mark responded. "don't you see how much in pain she is in right now?"
Eddies teary eyes look at her.
"yeah i see. and that's why i have to end this." Eddie turns around and steps on the tip.
"No eddie no. No. NO!" Natalee gets up on her feet and gets closer to eddie.
"goodbye natalee. i love you" Marks eyes widen as eddie falls.
"NOOO!" Natalee screamed as she ran to the top before being pulled back by mark.
"shhhh shh it's ok" mark hugs natalee as they both fall on their knees. He hugs her tight as she cries in his chest.
Madison's pov.
natalee ran out of the classroom and mark follows behind.
"what's going on?" irene asks.
"idk you guys stay here and jackson and i will go see what's happening." jackson and i run after them. They ended up on the rooftop. Mark shuts the door behind him before we all go in.
"it's me jackson open the door" jackson says as he starts to push open the door but failed completely. "marks guarding the door we can't open it."
"...I'm not normal!" that's eddies voice. what's going on? is it true? is he seriously gonna commit suicide. I take out my phone to dial an ambulance. no no no you stupid don't do this eddie no. I'm fucking scared this can't happen.
"hello? yes we need an ambulance at seika high school right now....15 minutes?! we need one now! ok thank you" as i put my phone back in my pocket i hear a loud scream. No. I fall to my knees as my body becomes numb. My sight was now blurry. I look up to see horrified frozen faces. First thing comes to my mind. Natalee. I get up and run to the door to the rooftop and push it open. First thing i see Natalee in Marks arms crying her head out. I fall to my knees once again and tears won't stop coming. I feel strong firm arms go around me.
"jackson..." the tears come down harder.
"shhh it's gonna be alright." jackson reassures me.
Sirens are being heard. Students gasping and screaming. Teachers crying and surprised.
No ones pov.
The ambulance finally arrive. They take eddies body away. Police come talking to the principal.
Krystal comes up the stairs towards the rooftop. Tears in her eyes as she heard the news. She didn't know eddie personally no. But she was afraid. She stops in her tracks to see Natalee in marks arms. She can't help but feel heartbroken. I'm sorry .
she turns around and walks away.
Police come running up the stairs running past her. They run up and start asking people questions to see if they saw what happened. They got everyone down from the rooftop as they saw a knife.
"So i heard you two were there when the victim committed suicide." a young police man starts questioning mark and natalee. Mark responded to everything the police man asked while natalee stayed put sitting next to mark.
"thank you for your cooperation. Is she...ok?" The police man asks. Mark looks at natalee before placing a hand on her hand.
"she will be" mark reassures the police man. The police man walks away.
"Hey hey look at me. Pres you're gonna be ok." mark assures her.
"yeah.." natalee replied with her dried up voice. She gets up to walk towards madison as she sees her crying. Natalee takes a few steps before blacking out. The last thing she heard was "NATALEE!" as she falls to the ground identifying marks voice.
3 weeks later.
"welcome back students. As you know we had to take weeks off of school for the incident that's happened in our school. To say that i'm disappoint is astonishing. I'm very upset with you guys. Bullying is not tolerated in this school..in any school. As all of you know by now what bullying can lead to. It's wrong. Why would you do it? Eddie might not have been your friend but he had friends. Friends that were traumatised with what happened. Some of his closest friends are still in the hospital trying to recover of what happened. Is this what we taught you? to not accept each other? We are all human beings why don't you see that?. What about his parents? Don't you ever think of how they'll feel? Try putting yourself in their shoes. i would just like to say this. bullies i hope your happy. you got what you wanted. Now trust me when i say this. You'll suffer. No ones gonna hurt you or anything like that. But now you're gonna carry the guilt for being the reason to why one of our brightest students had to end his life. I'm very disappointed and furious about what happened. That's all i'm going to say. Have a nice day back at school." The principal finishes her speech as everyone heads to class.
Mark and the rest of his crew head to class. Mark didn't seem as bright as he used to be. He had bags under his eyes and his hair was messy. Madison had red puffy eyes and she was tired as hell.
"How's natalee doing?" Irene asks looking at madison. Jia gives her a 'don't-ask-her' look before looking down. Irene apologizes before going back to being mute.
Madison sighs before speaking. "i'm going to visit natalee today." she looks up to mark before nodding. He sighs and nods back.
"i-i'll come with you." jackson stutters and rubs the back of his neck.
"Ok thank you" maddy gives him a small smile.
After maddy and jackson leave.
Mark skips class since he didn't want to do anything besides think. He hasn't seen Natalee for 3 weeks. So seeing irene made it a bit hard since they looked alike.
He couldn't help but blame himself for Eddies death. Blame himself for putting natalee through such a painful experience but he knew telling her was the best yet why does he feel so guilty? he didn't bully eddie. In fact he was Eddies friend yet he can't help but feel so damn guilty. Why? he would ask himself every night and thus he stays up.
As he was about to sit down under a tree, he was approached by Irene. He looks up and sighs.
"you're the last person i wanted to see right now." he whispers only loud enough for him to hear.
"hey Mark." irene smiles at him.
"Hi" he says sighing. "shouldn't you be in class?" Irene chuckles.
"i could ask you the same thing." she responds before stepping closer to him.
"Look irene im not in the mood to talk right so if you could please leave-"
"who said i was here to talk? maybe i just wanted to sit here with you? is that wrong?" Irene looks at him.
"sorry." he mumbles. She steps even closer to him trapping him in his tracks. Irene smiles at him.
"mark i know you're going through some stuff right now. But i just wanted to confess something." she looks down at his shoes.
"what is it?" mark sighs.
"i-i like you. i've liked you for a while now. But i've always thought you had feelings for someone else but now that i've confirmed with that person i know i still have a chance. So please give me a chance." Irene says before looking up to him waiting for a reply. Mark being too exhausted to do anything didn't respond besides look into her eyes. Irene steps even closer noticing Mark is not doing anything. She puts her hands on his shoulders and leans in to kiss him. She kisses him and he kisses back. Mark opens his eyes and he sees Natalee instead of irene. He closes his eyes again and opens them seeing irene. He pushes her away.
"you're not her. i'm sorry" Mark says before walking away.
"wait mark! Why? why? am i not good enough? i'll do anything for you just please give me a chance." she starts to tear up. Mark turns around.
"there's nothing wrong with you. You're perfect the way you are. You're just not her. No matter how similar you guys may look you're still not her." He smiles before walking away.
Irene wipes her tears away as she feels them streaming down her face. He really likes her i see. What a lucky girl.
