Chapter 19

Hey babes, here comes the 19th chapter! 19 chapters already, what ? When did this happen?

Also I want to thank you for 2000 reads, you guys have no ideia how much it means to me. I tried to make it a little longer for you :)

Probably my updates will be every Saturday now, because during the week I have school and well it's a bit hard to update during week. I'm sorry if it's too long, but I can't really help it.

Btw, the picture on the side is the necklace that Harry gave Melissa.

I hope you like it, and I apologize for any mistakes. x

“Stop it.” I grunted not opening my eyes, and just as I thought that I could return to my peaceful sleep the jumping started again.

“Happy birthday big sis!” Alex yelled jumping on my bed around me. Well soon he jumped over my leg and I had to make a huge effort to not curse in front of him, knowing that he would instantly run to my parents telling them that I said a ‘bad word’.

“Alex, stop it.” I groaned, opening my eyes a little. As soon as I did he crutched down next to me kissing my cheeks repeatedly, saying happy birthday. As much pissed as I was for him jumping on my leg I couldn’t help but laugh at his cuteness.

“Let your sister breathe, Alex.” My mom laughed, leaning against the doorway.

“Morning.” I lazily smiled at her. Even if I wasn’t into the whole birthday thing I woke up in a good mood, perhaps it was my brother’s always happy vibe.

“Happy birthday doll.” My dad appeared from behind my mom, both grinning at me.

Before I could open my mouth to say anything my mom rushed towards me practically yanking me out of bed.

“C’mon sweetheart, we have a surprise for you.”

I raised an eyebrow questioningly but my mom just pushed me in front of her, pushing me by my shoulders all the way downstairs, having my dad laughing at her enthusiasm.

“Close your eyes.” She said as we reached the front door.

“Mom, you’re scaring me.” I said seriously but they seemed to take it as a joke.

“Oh c’mon, just close your eyes silly .” She whined.

I sighed loudly, making sure she heard it before finally closing my eyes. Just like before she guided me outside.

“You can open your eyes now.” My mom whispered calmly this time.

Once I did, I felt my mouth opening itself as well.

“What? It’s…like…mine?”

I turned to my parents, dragging my jaw across the floor while they stood observing me with wide grins on their faces.

“Happy birthday sweetheart.” My father said warmly.

I ran up to them squeezing them both in a hug.

“Oh my god, thank you so much! Thank you.” I squealed not caring about being outside in my PJ’s screaming like mad.

A white Fiat 500 was parked in front of my house, ready for me to drive it. It was a girly car, I know, but then again I am a girl so it kind of makes sense.

It looked so perfect, that I loved it before even touching it. Speaking of touching, it remained me.

“But I can’t drive, you know that right?” I questioned.

“Yes, you will be taking driving lessons.” My dad explained and I couldn’t help but let out a squeal running to the source of my happiness.

I let my hands room everything around me; turning the radio on I pretended to be driving only to hear my parents’ loud laughing.

After exploring a little more and thanking my parents a hundred more times I had to go back to my room since unfortunately I couldn’t skip school just because it was my birthday.

Putting my things into the locker I was busy fantasying about driving around to notice my surroundings until Perrie came out of nowhere.

“Happy birthday!” She said loudly, happiness clear in her voice.

Out of shock I jumped a little almost hitting her with the locker door.

“Hey hey, I know you don’t like your birthday, but no need to hit me just because I wished you a good one.” She joked.

I laughed, throwing my arms around her.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to.” I said innocently.

Suddenly more weight was added on me and soon I realized that the whole group was hugging me as they started wishing me happy birthday.

“Thank you guys, really, but you can stop squeezing the life out of me now.” I chuckled.

“Sorry love.” Emily giggled.

“This is a bit weird isn’t it? It’s your birthday but no one is giving you presents since you practically prohibited us from buying you anything.”   Niall said with a laugh.

“Don’t worry I already got my present.” I grinned.

“Our friendship?” Liam said happily, and I almost felt bad for ruining his moment.

“No, a car.” I laughed.

“A car?” Eleanor asked almost more excited than me. This girl sure had life in her.

“Yeah, a Fiat 500.” I explained, not waiting for the question that was surely about to come.

“So cute.” Perrie giggled.

“Well, as for us, we’ll make sure that you won’t have to pay for anything tomorrow, little Mel,” Zayn said proudly.

“Little Mel? I’m 18 now.” I groaned playfully.

“You’re still little.” He patted my head like I was a dog, and ran off knowing that that would annoy me, and he was right as I ran after him our laughing echoing the hallway.

I gasped at the feeling of being pulled back, soon being pressed against someone’s chest.

“Happy birthday sunshine.” The person whispered against my neck. Harry.

Now that I knew it was him I felt myself relaxing, leaning back on him.

“Thanks.” I smiled.

Turning me around he didn’t hesitate kissing me. His lips soft, tasting heavenly like always. Another thing that I should be used to by now but I’m not is the butterflies that erupt in my stomach every time he kissed me.

“How has your day been?” He asked, holding me against his chest.

“Amazing. The very start was probably the best part.” I informed him with enthusiasm.

“Better than this?” He asked before pressing his lips to mine again, I could feel him smiling.

“Hmm, I would have a hard time choosing between those two.” I replied, sounding as amused as him.

He chuckled.

“What happened?”

“My parent bought me a car.” I stated, grinning like an idiot.

“Oh no,” He made a scared face but I could see him fighting back a smile, “I better go warn everyone, so they won’t be as shocked when you crash their car with your own.” He laughed at his own joke.

And I couldn’t help but laugh too, not at the corny but at him, his cuteness, his dimples, the sound of his laugh.´

“Don’t be an ass.” I slapped his chest, “I’ll be taking driving lessons.”

“That’s great.” He said without teasing this time.

“Yeah.” I agreed,

Making our way to the cafeteria we had a small talk just talking about random things. And as impossible for me as it sounded birthday didn’t seem to be that bad; as long as I had Harry and my friends by my side.

Suddenly I was pulled away from Harry, and being embraced in a tight hug.

“Happy birthday.” I recognized Anne’s voice.

“Thanks.” I laughed, pulling away.

“Jeez, don’t scare the girl away.”

I looked in the direction of the voice to see Jake, the topic of mine and Harry’s conversation not so long ago.

“Hi, I’m Jake.” He extended his hand and I shook it, not wanting to seem rude even though I could feel my hand slightly shaking with nervousness and fright.

“I’m Melissa.” I offered a small smile.

“I know.” He chuckled looking at Anne, so I presumed that she told him about me. “Happy birthday, by the way.”

“Thanks.” He definitely was way friendlier that he appeared to be.

I haven’t even noticed Jesy’s presence until she spoke.

“Happy birthday Mel.” She said kindly, hugging me not as tightly as Anne, which I was grateful for.

“Thank you.” I smiled at her.

“C’mon now, I’m starving.” Harry complained, lacing his hand with mine.

I shook my head at him at turned back to his friends to say our good-byes before we walked away from our encounter spot.

“How did they-“

“They know everything babe.” He smirked, but something in his voice told me that he was telling the truth. I didn’t push further not wanting to discover something like them having microphones or cameras around school so they could spy on people, as paranoid as that sounded.

Harry noticed me overthinking and threw his arm around my shoulder, chuckling slightly.

“You’re too cute.”

“So she has like both darkness and light in her?” Harry asked.

“Mhmm. Isn’t that just the perfect ending, I mean her being just light would be too predictable and just dark would be too bad.” I rambled about the movie that we were watching, snuggling closer to his chest as we lay on the couch of his apartment.

Harry wanted to go out since it was my birthday but I just felt like staying in so we ended up in his apartment eating pizza, watching Beautiful Creatures

I remember watching this movie the day I kissed Harry for the very first time; it brings amazing memories so I almost forced Harry to watch it but he seemed to enjoy it so far.

“Yeah, I quite liked the movie actually.” He said running his hand up and down my arm that was wrapped around his torso.

“It’s the movie that I watched the day I found you fighting in that alley, remember?” I looked up at him to see a smile creep up on his face.

“The day you kissed me?” He breathed.

I couldn’t fight back my own smile as I nodded.

“Who knew you would be the first to make a move on me?” He said after pecking my lips softly.

“Oh really? I consider that ‘I want to kiss you’” I mimicked his voice, repeating his words from that party when he almost kissed me, “as a move, so technically you made a move on me first.” I grinned triumphantly.

“You and your smart-ass remarks.” He said and as I was about to say something back, his fingertips were pressed to my sides, tickling the life out of me.

“I should go.” I mumbled.

After the movie ended we watched another one and then another, and basically cuddle the whole day. Not that I was complaining, at all.

“Already?”

“Yes, it’s almost 9 and I promised Anny, Christina and Nana that I would skype them today.” I explained looking up at him.

Softly kissing my forehead he nodded.

“Okay, I’ll drive you.”

We sat up and before I could walk out of the living room, or even stand up from the couch Harry grabbed my arm.

“Wait.”

“What?” I turned to him, confused.

A small smile displayed on his lips and I became even more confused when he walked out of the living room, but before I could do anything he came back, a small box in his hands.

Sitting back next to me, the box was put in my hands.

“Here, it’s…um, for you.” He mumbled, still smiling.

Slowly looking away from his eyes to the box, I noticed a small bow on it.

“I told you-“

“To not buy anything.” He mocked me, “I’m too cool to listen to you.” He chuckled.

Opening the box, I didn’t notice my face breaking into a grin as I looked down at the beautiful necklace.

It looked like Harry’s, but the chain was a little thinner and instead of being silver like his it was rose-gold, looking a little more gentle and feminine.

“It’s beautiful.” I smiled at Harry and noticed is eyes sparkle.

“I thought of buying you a different one; but then I wanted yours to have a meaning, just like mine.” He explained.

Slowly, he took the box out of my hands and turned me around. His fingers brushed the skin of my neck as he pushed my hair aside leaving it on fire. The cold metal fell on my chest, and I turned back around so Harry could see how it looked.

“I love it.” I said playing with the small paper plane.

“I’m glad you like it.” He smiled taking my hand in his, “I just want you to know that if something happens to me, I’ll still be here with you. I’ll be protecting you no matter what, as long as you have the necklace.”

His words reminded me of the words his brother told him giving him his necklace and without even realizing it my grip on his hand tightened.

“What are you talking about? Nothing will happen to you.” I said shakily. I could tell that he brought it up for a reason, something was going on but I had a feeling that he wouldn’t tell me.

“Babe, I’m not saying that something will happen to me, but if it ever does then I want you to know that I’ll always be here with you, even if you won’t see me.”

It scared me to death, how his words sounded like a goodbye.

Wanting nothing more than to hug him, that’s exactly what I did. Feeling his soft curls between my fingers.

“Nothing will ever happen to you.” I tried to convince myself more than anything.

He just hugged me tighter.

“C’mon, I’ll take you home.” He whispered in my hair.

The engine died, as Harry parked in front of my house.

“Thank you.” I smiled.

“For what?”

“The necklace, I love it.”

“I thought you would find it ridiculous to have similar necklaces.” He chuckled.

“Not, not at all.” I assured him, “You know, after your words I don’t think I’ll be able to ever take it off.” I tried to make it sound like a joke, but it was true.

Leaning in Harry kissed me ever so softly, his lips barely touching mine, but I wanted more so I grabbed the back of his neck, kissing him harder.

Something about the way he smirked against my lips told me that he knew he would get that reaction from me.

“I’ll see you soon Princess.” He pecked the tip of my nose.

 “I’ll see you soon.”
