Chapter 10
Seth’s POV…
(Carson's Wolf---->)
My eyes popped open and I don’t know what it was that woke me up. I turned my head to look out the window of our bedroom and from the faint glow and the still damp dew of night clinging to everything told me that it was still really early in the morning that magical moment right before daybreak where the shadows of night slowly eased away to welcome in the brilliance of a new day. I felt two large hands on my body as they spread across my abdomen traveling to my hips and they gently drew me back across the mattress and I was wrapped in heat as my back came into contact with a very naked and very hard, warm chest. Two very muscular arms wrapped around my waist and I sighed and snuggled into the heat radiating off my gorgeous mate.
His big hands kept circling my lower abdomen in gentle circles and I wondered why he was doing that. I turned to look at him thinking he was awake but he wasn’t, he was doing it unconsciously. Then, the thought hot me like a light bulb going off over my head, the reason for him doing that was the fact that we mated last night several times and his energy may be picking up the fact that of what I was somewhat dreading on one level but excited about on another. I was pregnant. Shit, is it true and could I tell so soon, I mean merely hours after…yeah, doing the deed. I closed my eyes like Aaron taught me and called forth my energy; I felt it running through me like little sparks of electricity. The added warmth of Carson’s palms over my abdomen helped me focus and I looked within myself and took stock of my life force. I directed that energy to my belly and the white light there was blaring bright, but I focused to see three small orbs of light floating there under the blue energy of Carson’s power, it was like they were pushing towards the warmth that his hands were creating.
I felt tears pooling in my eyes, oh my God it’s true. I can bring forth life and from what I just witnessed I am pregnant and not just with one but with three, triplets. (Shit!) I shot up into a sitting position and groaned as I got light headed from the sudden movement. I unceremoniously slapped Carson on his shoulder and he hissed as he eyes popped open in surprise and blinked to try to focus his stunning cerulean eyes on me, instantly alert. I was pouting with my arms folded across my chest with my eyebrow raised at him. He sat up and tried to gather me into his arms but I slapped his hands away.
With a look of confusion on his face and his hair sticking up all over his head, he looked absolutely mouthwatering but the pouting expression never left my face. “What’s the matter baby? Are you sore?” He asked and come to think of it yeah I was but that was the least of my concerns right now. I rolled my eyes at him and I took his hand. I called forth my energy again, and my skin began took on a faint white glow, but I was shocked to see it alter and shimmer with blue, the same exact essence that made up Carson’s power. I heard him gasp as he studied me with wonder in his eyes; I placed his hand over my abdomen and watched as comprehension dawned on his features. He closed his eyes and pressed his palm gently on my stomach, I felt the warmth of his energy tingle across my skin and I knew the moment he saw his babies, yes, all three of their life energy floating around like little stars in my belly. He gasped and his eyes snapped open.
He looked at me with so much wonder on his face, I could tell he was trying to guess my feelings about it and I couldn’t keep him in suspense any longer so let the big grin I was holding back spread across my face and I threw my arms around his neck and buried my face under it, nuzzling the soft skin there. I wasn’t going to lie. I was scared shitless but it didn’t deter me from the happiness I felt deep down in my soul from the thought that from our love we created life, and that I was carrying my mate’s children under my heart. I felt warm drops of something splashing on my shoulder and I leaned back and my heart fluttered in my chest. Carson’s beautiful eyes shimmered with his tears of joy and I raised my hand to wipe away the ones that leaked out onto his beautifully chiseled cheeks.
We settled back down under the warmth and comfort of the blankets on the bed and shared a few sweet bone melting kisses, I snuggled into his chest as he big hands glided over my body constantly finding my abdomen and rubbing over it in soothing circles. We drifted in and out of sleep until the sun was shining bright through the windows and patio door of the bedroom. Carson shifted up leaning on one elbow over me. “Come on, baby, time to feed you and my babies.” He crooned as he nuzzled my cheek with his nose. I giggled and sat up. I went to stand but a wave of dizziness overtook me and I stumbled a little. Carson was instantly at my side, his big hands under my elbows with a concerned frown on his face. “Are you alright?”
I patted his shoulder in reassurance. “I am ok, babe, just moved too quick.” I said and I stood up straight to show him I was steady on my feet, but he wasn’t having any of it. He bent down and swooped me off my feet. I yelped in surprise and latched onto his powerful shoulders as he carried me into the bathroom. He sat me on the side of the tub and he turned on the shower and adjusted the temperature of the water. Seeing that we didn’t bother to get dressed again in the early morning hours after our lovemaking, there were no clothes to get out of. Once he was satisfied with the water he picked me up and climbed into the stall setting me on my feet in front of him. I knew better to argue with him, this was his way of caring for me and his pups, so I just let him have his way. Arguing with Carson is like arguing with yourself, he gets his way regardless, he is like this immovable force. I just hope he doesn’t go berserk on anyone during this pregnancy.
As he washed my body from head to toe, my mind ran over the facts he had shared about the prophecy that they were now researching in detail. It never mentioned triplets but it did mention that like human gestation, mine would be the customary 40 weeks in length; I would have to deliver via caesarean section, seeing I didn’t have a birthing canal or such. My babies would bring peace and unity to the three species, Vampire, Warlock, and Shifters. I sent up to the heavens a silent prayer for health and strength, my pregnancy was unheard of and with any pregnancy there were going to be risks. I prayed for the endurance and wisdom to bring my children into this world healthy and strong. The other Elders along with my mate have been looking deep into the prophecy to figure out everything that it fore told.
Carson turned off the faucets and handed me out of the tub like I was the most fragile thing in the world. I knew at some point that it was going to get on my nerves, but I let him have his for now. I kinda liked the way he was pampering me. We got dried off and dressed, he wanted to go and see Peyton and he wanted me to get looked over by the pack doctor. I watched from the stool where he had sat me down as he began putting our breakfast together. The smell of bacon and frying eggs were making my mouth water. No sooner had he placed a heaping plate of scrambled eggs and bacon in front of me that I tucked into my food and practically inhaled it, Carson watched dumbfounded as I guzzled the glass of milk and polished off three slices of buttery toast.
“Wha?” I mumbled wide eyed and cheeks full of food.
“Nothing, I guess the babies are already making themselves known with the amount of food you just packed away.” He chuckled at me and I just rolled my eyes and got up to carry my dishes to the sink, but of course, he beat me to it and I found myself glaring at him, he just blew me a kiss and cleared away the remnants of our breakfast. I did manage to beat him to the punch by tying my own shoes. He opened the front door and waved me through; I stepped out onto the porch into the bright morning sunshine. The air held a cool crispness to it promising colder weather would soon to come. There was a warm flash and a blur of blue light behind me and I turned around to see that Carson had shifted to his wolf, and now that he was free he bounded over to me joyously and nuzzled my abdomen, letting off a happy whine before licking my fingers. I giggled and patted his head. He waited until I stepped off the bottom step and he lifted his massive head to sniff the air.
Carson in wolf form was a picture to behold, he was a massive with snow white fur, he stood above my waist and his eyes were the same brilliant blue as in his human form, he was strong, his muscles toned and cut, also like his human form. He was a gentle giant with me, but you could clearly see the power shimmering through him. He was breathtakingly magnificent. He nudged my leg and glanced in the direction of the pack house. I rubbed his shoulder feeling the muscles flexing there under his fur. I set off in that direction as he strutted by my side. The closer we got to the main house the more we began to see more and more of the pack members. They scurried out of the way as they spied the massive wolf leading me to the house like a centennial guard. The menace oozing from him was warning enough, absolutely no one was going to be getting close to me today or anytime soon for that matter, he was not only protecting me but his pups as well.
By the time we made it to the clearing surrounding that pack house, Peyton and the other Elders were standing on the front porch. People took notice and began to loosely gather around trying to figure out what was going on. Even the children stopped chasing each other and focused their attentions towards us. I could feel the flush of embarrassment wash over my face at all the eyes now focused on me. I started to fidget and Carson took a stance in front of me, his wolf sensing my discomfort and growled deep in his throat, all at once several people went back to what they were doing dragging their kids behind them. I ran my hand over his spine in attempt to soothe him. No need for the pack to fear him anymore than they already do.
We continued towards the steps of the house and Peyton stepped off the front porch carefully giving Carson a wide berth and coming to a stop several feet in front of me.”Okay little man, I am just going to have a wild guess since your mate here has his fur up in dander that you have some news.” He said as he chuckled at Carson’s wolfy huff of indignation.
“Can we not broadcast this out in the open for \ and sundry?” I said fighting the blush that was threatening to spread over my cheeks. Just then Aaron came barreling through the line of the trees into the clearing. Ben was not far behind him in his wolf form. “Perfect, you guys are right on time.” Peyton said and he turned and led the way back into the house. We all followed and filed into his study, the Elders, my brother and his mate, and of course Chantal was already there fussing over a tray of refreshments. I saw the fat pastries filled with crème cheese and fruits and even though I just had breakfast I gravitated towards it and plucked one off and onto a dainty napkin she provided, she looked at me and handed me another pastry like she knew already about my appetite increase and I happily perched on the loveseat with my goodies.
Carson was at my side the entire time and before I could lift a piece of the confection to my lips he sniffed at it before allowing me to so, and like I said I just let him have his way or else his over protectiveness could turn into a serious argument real quick. Peyton closed the door after the pack doctor who was the last to enter the room. I guessed that Carson had linked with Peyton earlier to set up this little meeting. I just mentally shrugged and tucked into my yummy pastry.
“So I take it you have happy news.” Peyton said and I felt another shimmer of warm energy as Carson shifted back and sat down next to putting a comforting arm across my shoulder. “Triplets.” He simply stated and the Elders gasped but that was nothing compared to Chantal, she jumped up and let out an ear piercing squeal and clapped her hands together. “Oh My God, come on Seth, I have so many ideas and an attic full of brand new baby stuff that the other mothers didn’t even get a chance to use since there is always so much stuff gifted and bought with each new pup. We can plan your nursery.” She babbled as she grabbed my hand and led me from the room. I could feel Carson’s apprehension with having me out of his sight but Peyton waved him off and sent silent Ben with us as guard.
I knew they all were going to discuss my pregnancy in length and pour over the old books of Elders of the past that documented out history and blood line and such. I wasn’t concerned too much about that because at some point everyone was going to know I am carrying my pups, I wasn’t going to have this flat tummy for much longer and could care less, I was carrying Carson’s babies and I dutifully let Chantal shuffle me through the house and up the stairs to the attic, she picked a few more ladies on the way and poor Ben followed like a stoic solider amongst the excited women chirping sway about baby clothes and blankets and the bottles for feeding and such, I really needed to pay attention.
By the time we reached the attic and Ben and now Lucas were shifting through the heavier boxes following Chantal’s directions, we had picked up several of the newly mated women and more than a few of the mothers, I almost felt like I should have a notebook to write down all the advice I was getting. My head was spinning but I was happy to let all the women flutter on around me, I did manage to look at Lucas’ pained expression as, Maya, one of the newly mated women used his massive chest to showcase a little dainty onesie that had “puppy luv” written across the front and I awed right along with everyone as he stood there like a trooper, being a living mannequin.
What seemed like hours later my head was floating with nothing but baby information as I made it the infirmary to see the doctor to get my check up. The pregnancy was confirmed by ultrasound, we got to see our little ones while I laid there on the examination table in the infirmary, I was shirtless and I didn’t even register the cold gel on my belly while the doctor ran the wand over my belly pausing to show us our babies on the screen in front of us. The other Elders were in attendance too but I didn’t feel funny because they were all twittering a flustering like proud grandparents at the sight of the little pea pods in my belly. Carson was at a loss for words and Chantal couldn’t sit still to save her life.
Afterwards, I was unceremoniously shuffled to the kitchen and the Chef, her name was Annette, provided with enough food to send me into a coma. Aaron was by my side for the remainder of the afternoon with Ben and Lucas not far away as we sunned ourselves outside lying on several blankets spread across the grass as we watched over the toddlers as they wobbled across the yard attempting to play with a huge beach ball. I reached for Aaron’s hand and held it tightly, I was so happy, never in my life had I been this happy and I had my gorgeous mate, my ever loyal big brother and my silent protective brother-in-law, and now my entire and the Elders and my pack to share it with, for me right now life couldn’t get any better.
