My roommate had fallen asleep in the fetal position. She was visibly wounded, I was not sure when she would wake up. I had to leave though so I wouldn't miss my boat. I gathered my belongings and made my way down to the counter. The events from last night replayed through my mind. It was a terrifying event and that man could have done far worse damage.
What would've happened if he stole my ticket aboard the boat? Or killed one of us. I needed to be a lot more cautious. I approached the woman behind the counter and notified her of the woman I shared a room with and her current state. The lady behind the counter rolled her eyes, "not again."
I was taken back by her response. My roommate was clearly struggling with some form of money troubles and substance abuse. She needed help, not someone who would brush off the behavior due to its predictability.
