Chapter Fifty-One
My body recoiled violently as if it had been physically assaulted and my heart began to pound faster, so fast and hard that I was worried I was having a heart attack.
Rachel was watching me carefully so even though I felt as though I was breaking down on the inside, I couldn't show it on the outside.
Why did I feel so crushed? This piece of information should not bother me, I shouldn't care. What the Alpha did was his business not mine.
"Oh right." I tried to say causally, however, my voice came out high and squeaky.
"Yeah." Rachel simply said. Though I was not looking at her I could feel her burning gaze on my face.
I cleared my throat. "Where are the cleaning products? I'll clean this room like you asked." I didn't want to do any cleaning, however, I was desperate to be away from her so I could process this information.
"I'll go get it." Rachel told me and after she exited the room my body automatically deposited itself onto the bed we had just made.
Placing my hand over my erratic heart I rubbed it slowly and took in deep breaths. My physical and mental reaction to the Alpha was starting to alarm me and I questioned yet again why I was reacting like this.
I had to find out the reason behind it. There had to a logical reason why my body kept going completely haywire when it comes to Alpha Alessandro.
As I thought about the Alpha my mind drifted to the girl, the girl who served him. Who was she? What exactly did she do? Why did he have someone to 'serve' him?
Did she have sex with him?
The thought of Alpha Alessandro having sex with this girl had my body retching as if it was trying to dispel the awful thought out of me.
"What are you doing? We just did the bed!" Rachel snapped when she saw me on the bed.
"I want to go back. I'm not doing this." I got off the bed and crossed my arms.
"Not this again." Rachel muttered. "Look you're here as a maid, this is what maid's do."
"No I'm not."
Rachel narrowed her eyes. "Fine you're not. You're here as a prisoner, you're lucky you're doing this and not rotting in a cell."
After hearing Alpha Alessandro's threats all the time, hearing Rachel say that didn't faze me. When Rachel realised that I wasn't going to respond she let out an irritated sigh. "Please just help me. I didn't ask Lisa to assign you to me, I'm just trying to do my job. After today I'll tell Lisa to assign you somewhere else."
I started to feel bad as she stared at me with her pleading eyes. Rachel had nothing to do with this and I was lashing out on a random person because I could. My actions will have consequences for her and I must be stressing her out.
I was just about to grab the cleaning equipment she had brought in when she spoke again. "I'll tell you what everyone's been saying about you."
She had piqued my interest and she knew it. Her mouth formed into a smile and her eyes began to twinkle slightly.
"Who has been talking about me and what have they been saying?"
She handed me a cleaning spray bottle and a tea towel. "At first there were rumours about you and your sister being involved with Alpha Alessandro's cousin. We expected you to be in the cells but then Lisa told us you're going to be joining us."
I started to spray the furniture and letting the cleaning product sit for a few seconds before wiping it off.
"Your sister left and we thought you went with her until we realised we were serving a human girl."
"I'm only here temporarily, my uncle will be picking me up soon." What I said was a lie, no one would be picking me up anymore especially now that I've told Alpha Alessandro the truth.
"Hmm." Rachel said, however, her face told me she didn't believe me. "Can I ask you something?"
"Okay." I said hesitantly, wary of what she could potentially ask me.
"Did you sleep with the Alpha?"
The question was so absurd that I began to choke on air. Rachel dropped her cleaning products and began to pat my back.
"Shit, are you okay?"
"Y-yeah." I gasped out. It took me a minute or so to stop coughing.
"Sensitive topic, huh?" Rachel asked with a smile.
I shook my head vigorously and stopped very soon after as the movement aggravated my head and the pain. "No!" I paused before asking my own question. "Is that what people think?"
Do the people who live here think I've been messing around with Alpha Alessandro?

The sudden thought in my head had me spluttering and coughing again. Rachel began pounding my back again.
"I'm okay." I muttered weakly.
"Don't die on me, that would be a lot of paperwork for me to do and I'll probably have to clean it up too."
I started laughing and quickly stopped when I realised she wasn't joking.
"To answer your question, yes, some people do think that."
"Does Alpha Alessandro have relationships with humans?" I was curious to know this answer, he clearly despised humans but there were times were people claimed to hate something and you'll find them doing the very thing they professed to hate.
Rachel shrugged. "Alpha Alessandro does whatever he wants."
Was the woman whose room this belonged to human?
We continued working in silence and I resisted the overwhelming urge to ask Rachel about it. I couldn't show too much interest in Alpha Alessandro and his relationship with this girl.
I could tell Rachel was also resisting the urge to ask me questions as she would look over at me every minute or so with a wondering look on her face. At times I wanted to ask her to spit out what she wanted to say but I knew it would be better to keep my mouth shut. I couldn't have another person asking me questions and finding out information about me that could lead to my demise.
We had finished cleaning and were removing the last few cleaning items out of the room when Rachel stiffened up slightly. I glanced back to see a beautiful, tall blonde bombshell walking towards the room we had just exited. She was stunning and looked as though she belonged on the runway.
Her blonde curls cascaded down her back stopping in the middle, her bright green eyes were sparkling with happiness and her red lipstick covered lips were wide, showing her white teeth.
"Move away human." She made a 'shooing' motion with her hand.
"Nala move!" Hissed Rachel as she grabbed my hand tugged it harshly.
The gorgeous woman rolled her eyes and brushed past us into the room and slammed the door shut.
That was Alpha Alessandro's girlfriend?
"Don't get on her bad side, she'll make your life hell."
"Is that Alpha Alessandro's girlfriend?"
Rachel let out a little laugh. "Girlfriend? If that what you want to call it, yeah sure. That's his girlfriend."
Before I could say anything the door reopened. "Maid, is Teresa here?"
"Yes ma'am." Rachel answered keeping her head low.
"Hm." The woman said, her tone disapproving. "Find out why it is taking so long for my bags to be here."
"Yes ma'am."
"You." She pointed her manicured hands at me. "Run me a bath."
I stared at her for a few seconds before I burst out laughing.
"Oh my god." I heard Rachel whisper.
"I'm not doing anything, do it yourself." I told her as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Are you defying my orders?" She took a step forward and mirrored my actions. "Do you know who I am?"
"Not really." I shrugged, ignoring the horrified looks Rachel was giving me.
"I'm sorry ma'am, she's new here." Rachel quickly defended me. "I will run your bath for you and Nala will get your bags for you."
The woman narrowed her eyes at me before walking back into the bedroom, leaving the door open for Rachel.
"Are you insane?" Rachel mouthed the words before shaking her head. "Go find out where her bags are."
Yeah like I was going to do that!
Rachel didn't wait for a response as she went into the bedroom, I stared after her for a few seconds before making my way back to my new room. I couldn't remember the way clearly so I ended up getting lost a few times.
Once I finally found the room, I went over to my bed and grabbed the covers that were on top of it. I didn't care what time it was, all I wanted to do was curl into bed and never leave it. I'm not a maid to run around after the people here especially her.
Why was she back? Did the Alpha call her back? Why did the idea of the two of them have my heart feeling as though it's being crushed?
Not only was my heart hurting both physically and mentally but my body was too. It was both tired and aching as if I had done several days' worth of labour without rest. I got under the covers once I was finished setting it up, not bothering to change out of my clothes.
I laid there with my eyes shut waiting for sleep to fill me so I could forget what my life had become but as usual nothing came to me easy and sleep didn't either. After closing the curtains, getting into my pjs and tossing and turning I finally decided to get out of bed and go to the bathroom.
Instead of a shower I decided to fill the bathtub up instead. The warm water would help my suspiciously aching muscles and relax my mind and body thus making it easier for me to sleep. I didn't bother to wait for the bathtub to fill to a suitable amount, my impatient self took my clothes off and got straight into the tub.
I was right, the warm water did wonders to my body, caressing and soothing every inch of it. I closed my eyes and pushed myself under until only the tip of my nose was peeking through. I stayed like that for a while, pushing my face back up for air before going back under all the while keeping my eyes closed.
I may have allowed my body to sink too deep into relaxation mode as I found myself struggling to stay awake and open my eyes. With great effort my eyes widened slightly into slits and I tried to push myself up, however, I felt too heavy and hazy as if I had taken some sort of sleeping pill.
What confused me even more was that the water was no longer clear, it was pink.
"What?" I slurred out slightly as I tried to pull myself up again only to slip under the water.
The water was like a lullaby pushing me to close my eyes and sleep. I knew I had to get up but it was too hard and I didn't want to leave this warm feeling.
My eyes began to close on its own accord and my mind started to go dark like a blanket being draped over a light. My body began to slip underneath and just before everything turned completely dark, in the distance I heard something.
"No!"
