Chapter 2

Eddy didn't really sleep that night because of his own distrust, and if he needed to make a speedy getaway it would be helpful to be actually awake. So that's what he would be, he didn't sleep much anyways, the constant noise in his head kept him up. The cold air coming in through the window helped to numb it though, like the rest of his still pretty wet body because he didn't dry off. It was a waste of time anyways. He wasn't too keen on just lying on top of the covers either, what was the point of it if he wasn't sleeping? The man found himself pacing most of the night, walking the width of the room, or pacing the halls like a haunted spector. He did this until morning and the sun was rising, that was when he finally laid down again although he had no time to sleep now, it was time to call his conductor and say he was sick, thus couldn't come to the rehearsal. It would look suspicious since his desk mate was now officially missing, but then again his conductor had his back most of the time and wouldn't say a thing if he didn't want the whole quid pro quo situation to leak.

Brett's night was not as anxiety-inducing as Eddy's that was for sure. His door was closed so he didn't notice the pacing and in contrast to Eddy, he slept soundly. When the darkness slowly faded from the sky he woke up and stretched.

After Eddy didn't come for his throat in the night, he assumed that the man either ran off or something else kept him from killing Brett. Eddy had shown on multiple occasions that killing humans was nothing to fret over, so maybe he should go down to the reasoning for that at some point.

Brett got up, placed his glasses on the nose and wrapped himself in a dark grey fuzzy robe so he wouldn't get cold. He put on warm slippers and opened the door.

Slowly he made his way to the kitchen, not bothering to check on Eddy.

The man would come if he wanted something, Brett was sure of that. For now, the doctor craved the dark liquid potion of awakeness and energy, so he turned on the coffee machine and pulled out two mugs, one for him, one for his guest. He had no clue how Eddy liked his coffee, but he would make it black, additions could be fixed later. Brett only drank his coffee with sugar for an extra boost in the morning.

He got his morning paper from the mailbox, waved at his neighbor when she whistled for her cat, and sat back down at the kitchen table. His eyes fell on the dark spot left behind from yesterday. Yeah, he really needed to rub and scrub it clean.

Brett cracked his neck as he read today's headline. Slowly he made his way through the paper - his earliest appointment was at 10am, and they were at 7am now. So he had a lot of time.

He was certain Eddy knew he was up and moving, so he was curious about what would happen now.

He had his mug on the way to his lips when he saw a movement out of the corner of his eye, and turned his head.

It was his unwarranted guest still only clad in his boxer shorts, his probably too tight boxer shorts but what did it really matter. It was probably something Brett had seen before, or Eddy assumed so considering Brett was a man too, "Good morning I guess."

He mumbled, not exactly sure what he was still doing here or why both of them were still alive for that matter. Either way, there he was and the therapist was still living and breathing although just a disappointment apparently. Well, a disappointment to Eddy at least, all other people were probably happy they had a sane seeming therapist. Eddy was not one of those people though, he'd rather have an insane one than a sane one. Just his personal opinion though. Eddy just kinda stood there and stared, his hair was a mess along with defying gravity and dark circles were under his eyes, showing he didn't sleep. He even sniffled a bit because the idiot left the window open and froze himself. On the other hand, maybe that was his plan. It was always good to sound sick when calling in sick.

Brett motioned for Eddy to sit down.

"Indeed, good morning, Eddy."

The owner got up and placed the warm mug in front of his guest, along with a fancy little milk jug and a matching sugar pot. Then Brett sat down again, drinking his coffee and reading his newspaper. He waited for Eddy to speak up. The man hated the silence and would try to fill it - at least that was happening in their appointments.

After he got through all of the unimportant news, he got to the segment he really was interested in. A small little ad was up there from the Sydney police. It was about a missing woman. Probably the one Eddy killed. Hopefully the murderer didn't leave any trails and brought the police straight up here. That would be very unfortunate. After skimming the obituaries he folded the newspaper and now settled his gaze on the guest. He didn't mind the unclothedness of Eddy; he indeed had seen far worse, but he still frowned at that. He gave Eddy a bathrobe yesterday, why didn't the man throw that on? But he wasn't here to critique Eddy's lacking sense of dress, but they were here to talk. Or maybe not.

Eddy didn't really say anything, he was more or less observing his coffee. He was trying to figure out if it was poisoned, and kinda hoped it was. It would make the morning far more interesting if it was laced in rat poison, cleaners or arsenic. For hell, he didn't even care if it was some sort of drug. Just something to spice this up and tell him he was in fact right. Then again he figured that Brett wasn't dumb enough to pull that, although the man could probably get away with it if it was laced with his ground up medicine to make it look like he overdosed. If that were the case it would be declared suicide as with other patients. Unless he saw it wrong... he could have seen it wrong. He had before so it would be no surprise if he did now. Maybe he should try to look into where Brett supposedly transferred them or visit the families. However, going to a grieving family probably wasn't the smartest thing to do... Unless... Eddy glanced up at Brett slightly, finally taking a sip of his coffee. Once again he was disappointed in life: it tasted fine and normal.

Brett rolled his eyes when he saw Eddy hesitate.

"I will not poison you. That would be stupid. Did you contact your employer about not showing up today? Because you look like shit. Haven't you slept the night?"

Brett's mug was empty so he simply refilled it. He didn't put any drugs or funny stuff in Eddy's coffee, that would be a bit too obvious. Also he didn't need a death in his house when he still had evidence to get rid of. Like the stain on his precious table and the fucking hand itself.

"Where did you kill her?" Brett asked when Eddy was silent. It seemed the man was not in the mood for quippy discussions and noise, so Brett would gently force him to.

"It's disappointing that you didn't try to poison me. I contacted him, yeah, and no, I didn't sleep," Eddy sipped some more, he needed some caffeine to get some energy. He really needed that after pacing all night, "She was going on vacation to a family cottage and I was waiting for her there. Don't worry too much, I took precautions."

"I will worry the whole time, because you stupid fucker took a trophy with you. I hope you didn't do it with the rest of them as well, because a missing hand is a dead give away. And I would never try to poison you in my own house, even if I wanted that. Which I don't. I want to help you. Not kill you."

Brett rolled his eyes and gave the man a once over. He looked dejected and lifeless. Nothing too surprising in his looks. But man, couldn't Eddy get it together? From all the talk, and the fact that there was no police waiting for him should tell him everything already.

Apparently Eddy was not as smart as he thought he was.

"She was the only one there, the first one there. And it's a copycat murder, so I took a hand. You may think copycat murders are another dead give away, but I did my research. Wore the same shoe size and brand, used the same kind of weapon and perfected their method. Through practice on animals. Also you may think it's suspicious if all those things have been charged recently and the police see that. But I've been gathering the materials for over two years, so no sudden charges," Eddy shrugged, this was hella premeditated. His last strand of patience must've been broken recently so he finally acted out on it, "They aren't gonna link it to me, and all I have to do is boil the hand until it turns into more oily mush then make soap or some weird shit such as teacakes that I can toss out and no one will bat an eye to. Like Leonarda Cianciulla. The only thing the police may find suspicious is that I am not in the orchestra the day that my desk stand partner is revealed to be missing."

Brett sighed but nodded. Sounded good, except for the part of boiling the hand. He had an easier method, but he wouldn't disclose that to Eddy.

"I see. Well, if you think you are all set and nobody will ever get you, then what now? Will you kill me now that you know I am not a monster like you?" He was a different kind, and he was way more patient than Eddy. Way, way more patient. He was curious as to where this would go for them. Maybe he should just hint the police on Eddy, but sadly that was not possible anymore. He promised Eddy not to call the police so he wouldn't do that. And with that he included hints and 'anonymous' calls and all that shit.

Eddy wasn't too concerned with Brett calling the police because the man would probably be considered an accomplice for not reporting right away. Or as a victim that was being threatened which the police would probably believe considering his better known status. Still he wasn't concerned. He set his coffee mug down then leaned over to look at Brett wearily but stared at him as if trying to eat his soul, "I still have hope for you, Dr. Yang. You're an entirely different monster from me but one nonetheless. You're a man who has danced with death before. I can see it in your eyes."

No sane person would be this eerily calm, Eddy's hope was reignited just from morning coffee. Even if it wasn't poisoned. It was the calm before the storm, "Then again, maybe that was your own experience close to death that leaves you unconcerned in the face of it being a possibility. But that's for you to know and for me to find out."

He leaned back once he was done saying that, a huge beaming smile on his face. It wasn't just his hope that was reignited but his giddy excitement, "I think I like you better alive."

Eddy giggled to himself, seeing this more as a game than anything else. It would be a fun game, maybe he would find those families after all or the doctor's family for that matter. Oh the possibilities.

Brett snorted. Well, it really didn't take long for Eddy to be an excited puppy again. He would not tap into answering the innuendos Eddy spouted; he would just ignore it. The man didn't need to know everything from the get go anyway. Giving information was appreciated, but sometimes you had to work hard for those.

"Anyway, are you hungry? I have toast and cereal and more coffee if you want. And you should really dress in the bathrobe I got you yesterday. Isn't it cold? Do you want to fall ill? What would the conductor say to that?! How scandalous. No fucking for him then. Are you not worried he will discard you and take on a new toy to play with?"

"My silence comes with a price, Dr. Yang. He won't do anything of the sort, not if he wants me to keep our little secret. He may have status but he also has a lot of questionable videos on his phone. So it would be in his best interest not to get investigated. And I'm pretty sure there are others to help back up these claims. I still think he's trash though, but right now said trash has my back, so it's in my best interest to have him," Eddy pursed his lips as he raised an eyebrow slightly at Brett, "I would like toast please and yes I am cold. But it's probably also in my best interest to actually be sick when I called in sick. Alibi, kinda sorta. Any other questions, comments or concerns?"

He raised an eyebrow, he was kinda waiting for Brett to ask more therapist-like questions.

"If you really want to get sick, then instead of going through what you are doing, you should get on the streets and kiss someone who is sick for real. That is a way safer method. Because this will not really help you. It could, but it had no guarantee. And if you want to cement your alibi, going to a physician and getting a doc slip is safer. That way people have seen you and you have a paper trail if you ever get questioned. How come you never got caught in all these years if you work that messy? Man, the police are really blind sometimes."

Brett got up and put toast in the toaster and got everything else out. He refilled Eddy's mug and sat back down. It was not that Eddy was bad at what he was doing - if he was, then he would not be a free man for that matter - but it was the tiny little details they had to be careful of. Because that could break the neck if not cared for professionally.

The doctor never ate in the morning, so he was only putting stuff for Eddy on the table. He would eat later in his office. Julia probably got him his salmon with cream cheese and a small cup of mixed fruits like she did every morning. He loved her for that. That and her competence at work of course.

"So, how do you plan to get out of here so nobody will see you? Or do you want to waltz out of my home in bright daylight?"

"Well they haven't caught me because I'm either really smart or really stupid. Both are questionable, and I will think of going to a doctor then for a little slip. As for how I will get out of here without being seen, I haven't thought that through yet. I have mildly bloody clothes and if I go out like this, I'm going to be arrested for public indecency. Which admittedly would be kinda funny." Eddy chuckled to himself. That would be really amusing, succeeding for so long and then getting arrested for being half naked.

"We can wash and dry the clothes here. A few people will come here and repair the damage you have done and reset my password. Next time you want to come, gimme a heads up."

The doc hated surprises and surprise visits were just that.

He would probably work from home then because Eddy was essentially trapped here until he could leave. Brett would take him into his car to town and release the mad man.

His gaze wandered over Eddy, taking in a lot of things. Absentmindedly he sipped his coffee while Eddy ate his breakfast.

The human mind was such a fragile and at the same time strong thing. He took great pleasure in analyzing and reforming it. That was fun to him, not the killing. He wanted to see the extremes people would go to.

"Why did you start killing anyway?"

"What's the fun in giving you a heads up? But I will respect that, Brett. It would probably be unfortunate for you to fix the panic button every time. And won't it be bad for people to see you with one of your clients at your house? Given they probably don't know I'm a client," Eddy kicked his legs back and forth from where he sat and munched on his toast. It was very yummy. He liked toast, "Why did I start killing hmm? Remember when I said these urges started when I was thirteen? Well the reason happened then too. Prepare yourself for a sob story you've probably heard a lot of times. My dad was a wife beater, it was just something I had always seen and kinda thought it was normal. Used to be really close to my dad and he was probably too close to me, considering what was to come and the kind of man he was. One day he beat my mom so badly she was no good for his release of desire. So he turned to the next thing, me. As any kid would, I freaked out and panicked but my freak out ended with a dead dad. He cornered me in the kitchen so I grabbed one of the cooking knives to try to protect myself. That's when I had an epiphany that maybe humankind is the plague of this earth, they're capable of doing such bad things even to their own family. So maybe they're better off all dead. I especially get pleasure from killing people that were like my father. I know I have no moral high ground but people like that deserve what they get."

Eddy's lips pulled up into something like disgust, he actually had some empathy for people who had to suffer through things like that. He was no savior considering he killed innocents too but he did also pride himself a bit in killing off someone's tormentor.

"Well, yes, I have heard it a hundred times already and still it baffles me how people can do that to each other. Did your father rape you or did you kill him before he could? What happened to your mother and your sister? You mentioned her in one of the first sessions we had. Did your father ever touch your sister?"

Yes, Brett heard it and it kinda bored him. But he would still listen attentively. Eddy had no hero complex, he didn't explain his murders away and showed no sign of trapping himself in an illusion. He knew what he was doing. And that made him exceptionally dangerous. But also from a Psychiatrist standpoint he was boring. The doctor had seen so many cases of that, it wasn't even funny anymore. Yes, Eddy managed to find him, threaten him and all that, but in the end, nothing happened. It was a disappointment. Brett took another sip of his coffee as he watched Eddy devouring the toast. Wordlessly he made another batch and gave it to him.

"I almost feel bad for you, having to hear this all of the time. No, I killed him before he could. He got too close by grabbing my throat so I stuck him in the ribs out of pure reaction. My sister, yes he probably did stuff to her too considering after the death she asked me to put her out of her misery too. As for my mother, she's still alive and in a resting home. She's not quite there anymore. But I visit her sometimes anyway." Eddy watched Brett make more toast, a little twinkle in his tired eyes because he fucking loved toast.

"I see. Did you put your sister 'out of her misery' then? Did you help her?" It wouldn't surprise him much. Eddy got to kill someone and even a loved one on top. If Belle begged him enough, he probably did it as a favor to her.

He leaned back as he listened to the path Eddy's life took. Heartbreaking and cruel indeed. His mind wandered a bit at that. Thankfully he had an intact family. Or mostly intact.

"Believe it or not, I am actually a bit merciful. So I helped her end it," Eddy sighed, "I actually had a soft spot for her, now it's more of malice. I live while she haunts me but she gets to rest in peace. Oh well I guess, she got what she asked for."

It was a damn blood thirsty haunting too that never shut up. Luckily it was quieter when he actually took his meds.

"So you hear your sister's voice, urging you to kill people, did I get that right?" This was not unusual, but not common either. Perhaps the day Eddy killed his sister, something broke in him. Mentally and physically speaking. Brett observed the nervous tick of Eddy rubbing over his temple when he spoke about his sister. He was certain Eddy didn't even notice that. But Brett sure as hell did.

"You understand correctly," Eddy nodded slightly, "it's silent mostly when I'm on my meds."

He mumbled as he watched Brett. It was time for him to eat more toast.

"Do you see her or just hear her?" Brett had his perfect soft smile on the lips and his eyes had a warm gaze as their eyes met. Brett was now in doc-mode and started to analyze Eddy. It was his job after all and he would bill Eddy the time he spent on him. He didn't need to, but the killer couldn't expect something for free, right? That was not going to happen.

"Depends, mostly just hear. But sometimes at night I see things, things that could possibly be her," Eddy wouldn't expect this for free anyways, he wouldn't be surprised if he was billed for the damage.

"In the light of this new information I will prescribe you new meds and a different secondary therapy. How does art therapy work for you anyway? Are you happy when you paint?"

This screamed re-medication. No way in hell Brett would let a hallucinating patient walk out without proper care.

"Painting is relaxing I guess, I wouldn't say it makes me happy though," Eddy's eyes stayed fixated on Brett, just observing him as much as the elder was observing the killer. Except Eddy wasn't trying to hide it.

"Except killing, what do you think or know makes you happy?"

Brett's hand itched to take notes so he stood once again and got himself a small sheet of paper and a pencil. He quickly noted a few symbols and looked at Eddy then.

"And I think I don't need to remind you that I value honesty, right? Because you can only get better if you are honest with me and yourself."

Not that Brett thought Eddy would lie to him, but he wanted to make sure that Eddy was reminded of that little agreement.

"Yeah, yeah I know. I like playing violin, that makes me happy for the most part," Eddy grabbed another piece of toast to nibble on.

"But you said you didn't want to do music therapy, right? I gave you the option and you said you play a lot of it at work. Do you want to switch now? It's important that you are happy, Eddy. Because when you are happy you will feel good and that is your path of recovery."

Brett dotted another symbol down and leaned his head on one hand while observing the man in front of him. He was kinda cute with the big teeth and nose, the bright eyes and the sparkle in them. Still, he was a patient, but Brett could appreciate the view a little bit.

"I like to keep that separate from therapy, yes, that is why I declined the first time and will probably decline it again. Plus all the other sounds in music therapy may drag on my nerves," Eddy just munched and crunched a bit. The crispy white bread seemed to make him happy, "Some sounds really drive me crazy."

Brett nodded to that.

"Interesting. What else would make you happy Eddy? Because you need to be happy."

The doctor emptied the mug and got a refill. A look in Eddy's mug told him he was half full so his patient didn't need more.

When Brett settled back into the chair he watched Eddy tearing the bread. He didn't have much else to do.

"I like seeing you, that makes me happy so you don't need to worry so much about finding something in therapy that makes me happy," Eddy shrugged, it was more of his fascination with Brett that made him happy rather than Brett himself. Or it was his hope of what Brett could be that kept him sated.

"Being fixated on a person is not healthy Eddy," Brett gently said, "You need happiness that can be achieved on your own."

Plummeting from one obsession to another was not healthy and Brett would not let that happen to Eddy. The man was mentally unstable as it could get, so that was not a good idea. It was also a very good reason to get him out of his life once and for all. Maybe it really was time to get Eddy to a professional who could really help him.

"I can't help it, I like dissecting things," Eddy raised an eyebrow, he was definitely thinking of dissecting Brett. In a slightly murderous way but also in a way that he wanted to learn Brett's secrets, more or less the answer to his questions. The real answer, "And I think you would be nice to dissect. Not my fault you're fascinating and were born with a pretty face."

Eddy clicked with his tongue, Brett could try to get rid of him but he would just seek the man out again and get his way like the brat he was.

The doc sighed and tapped the pencil against his chin.

"Which way do you want to dissect me then? How about we speak about that? What do you want to do first, talking to me or cutting my flesh open? Or maybe you are bold and want to do both at the same time?"

Not that it would ever come to this, Brett would never allow it. This man would never lay a finger on him, he would make sure of it.

"No, no, not both at the same time. That's not bold, that's stupid. Dr. Yang, you're like fine cuisine that shouldn't be spoiled by a brute just digging in his fork and knife. That just wouldn't do at all, not at all. Fine cuisine is meant to be savored and admired. I do not want to hurt you, Brett. I want to learn about you. Such as what's behind that warm smile of yours. So talking to you."

Eddy continued to kick his legs back and forth as he tilted his head to the side, "It's not wise for a dog to bite the hand that feeds it. To cut you open would be like me biting your hand. "

"I see. Thank you for your consideration. What would make you kill me? When you know everything about me? When you know there is nothing to be learned about me? Tell me, Eddy."

Brett drew a small symbol on the sheet. Eddy could be easily described as possessive and stubborn, but what would turn him away? That question was worth digging deeper for.

"Simple, betrayal. You have no loyalty to me and understandably so because I don't even trust you fully. Plus you're more trustworthy than me so there's no way you have any for me. But if you tell anyone about this considering the murder and such, I would then consider you someone that I need to eliminate. Then again that's probably not too much of a concern for you, right? But that's what it would take. If I don't find anything I'll just be disappointed."

Eddy sighed, he would be very disappointed, "I wouldn't kill you though."

That didn't align properly in Brett's head, so he asked Eddy to specify.

"Wait, just hypothetically speaking, you would eliminate me but not murder me? How will you accomplish that?"

Eddy was speaking in riddles and it made no sense. Eliminate him but not kill him? What did he mean by that? Brett already gave him his words that nothing would be getting out from yesterday, so he was safe for now.

"Elimination kinda means kill, Dr. Yang," Eddy blinked owlishly, "It's just more pg terminology. But I guess, technically I could just tie you up and leave you in a basement if I needed to get rid of you but didn't want to kill you. That's not what I meant though. You'd probably escape somehow because we both know you're very smart, obviously. So yeah it probably wouldn't be a good choice to lock you in a basement."

At that Brett couldn't help but chuckle. Eddy was confused indeed.

"I see, I see. I thought you meant something different. Sometimes you have problems with words, right? And thank you for the compliment. So far I was never locked in a basement, so I am not sure if I could escape but thank you for believing in me."

Brett dotted down another symbol before he looked up again.

"Words are hard so yeah, it can be troublesome." Eddy nodded slightly, it was strangely calm for the content of the convo, "Well you could practice, just in case you get another psycho who isn't me. They may put you in a basement. I mean if someone does I will stab them."

"Seeing that I usually do not work with people like you, except in prison, I think I will be very safe from that. That is also why I would like to ask you not to disrupt my silent alarm again. I am kinda dependent on it and having to call the company to get everything checked is no fun at all. Also please don't hack my office's private sites. I value my patients' privacy as much as my personal. You wouldn't want that done to you either, right? You can ask what you want to know. I can not promise you to answer all your questions, but this is a give-and-take kinda situation. So please value that."

Brett had no fun in doing that, besides, he technically had to inform all his patients of the breach. That would cost him so much time and money, because a few would probably sue him for not taking enough precautions. Not to mention the scandal if the press would get a whiff of that. So yes, Brett was less than pleased with that action.

"I will respect that, Dr. Yang," Eddy already had what he needed now, so he wouldn't have to breach it again. Probably. He had the families that he could look into, "I'm sorry about that."

He bowed his head slightly, Brett would probably need the silent alarm if the convicts were released. Then again, if he hadn't tampered with it, he would've been arrested and Brett dead.

"Thank you. You can call me Brett, I don't mind." There was a soft smile again and Brett laid down the pencil. He looked at his clock. It was time.

"So Eddy, as much as I enjoyed this, we need to part. It's almost 9am and we still need to wash and dry your clothes. The security company will come any moment and I need to call Julia so that I will take the day off. Because we will tackle a few of your issues today if you want. I will take time for you."

Brett got up and put the pencil in one of the drawers in the kitchen. They really needed to get going. Thankfully he had a super quick fifteen minute program on his washing machine and a quick dry one as well. It shouldn't take long but they had to actually do it so it'd be finished at some point.

"That sounds okay I guess. Should I do anything?" Eddy asked since he was just kinda there finishing off toast and not doing anything. He wasn't sure if Brett wanted him unseen or not. He knew for one that he probably should hide the hand that was still in a bag and in the open.

"Maybe go upstairs and take another shower. And then put on the bathrobe. I will clean up everything here."

Brett took the plate and mug from Eddy and put it in the sink to clean later, now he was taking all the condiments and sliced cheese and ham to put it away in the fridge. Then he got an old looking pot from one of the drawers and put the hand inside and covered it with cold water. He put that on the stove and a lid on. He would care for that later. For now it was important that everything looked normal, even if that wasn't the case.

"Chop, chop, Eddy, into the shower with you. I am a big boy, I can handle the rest."

When Eddy went upstairs, Brett quickly cleaned everything and checked the windows and doors. Only then he went upstairs and took the sullied clothes to put it in the washing machine on the shortest programm. Fifteen minutes and then in the dryer. Yeah, they should have enough time.

While the water was still running, Brett looked in his wardrobe for a shirt and sweatpants to lend Eddy. He was bigger, so he had to be considerate of this.

He found a simple dark grey shirt and blue sweatpants and laid it right next to the bathrobe where Eddy was showering.

"I got you some clothes. Feel free to use them."

He had no underwear for Eddy, but that would certainly do.

Eddy peeked out of the shower a bit to look at Brett and see what exactly he picked out. He didn't mind if the curtain pulled a bit more open than intended, because who cared if Brett saw him a bit naked. The therapist had already seen him half naked, a little glimpse of dick wouldn't hurt, "Oh thanks. It would probably be better for me to be in more clothing so it's not as sketchy."

"Yes, indeed. They are comfy. I will leave you alone to shower now. And really, take your time."

Brett shot him a soft smile, his eyes never leaving Eddy's face. They didn't wander even once. He was professional enough for that. Also Brett was not that type of asshole who would look for dick just because someone was naked. He left Eddy alone, closing the bathroom door behind him.

The doctor went to his bedroom again to cloth himself and to call Julia that he would get later into the office. She knew what to do in such cases.

After he was dressed appropriately, the doorbell rang.

Brett went to the door and as expected two workers from the security company were standing on his doormat. He let them in and quickly explained the problem and they went to work. Totally casual, he strolled to the oven, took the pot and placed it in the fridge. Brett had a bit of a small talk with them before he excused himself to let them work.

He went upstairs to check on the washing machine and put the clean clothes into the dryer. Where was Eddy?
