"Thanks" he smiled at me.
"So did you have a good birthday?"
"Well my older brother took me out and got me wasted, but I think that usually happens on a 21st birthday" he said with a chuckle.
"So how many siblings do you have?" I asked curious of what kind of family he came from.
"Well technically it's my turn to ask a question but I will let it slide, since I already know that you're an only child," he said with smile but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I only have my older brother Jason, he is 32."
"Shit, that's quite the age gap."
"Yeah I am pretty sure I wasn't exactly planned, my parents are older and didn't really have the time or the energy for a kid, so my brother pretty much raised me. But I don't want you to think badly of them. They're great people just had different priorities. Currently they are retired and living in Florida, I am happy for them."
I looked up at him admiringly, his parents practically abandoned him, yet he still cared and respected them. I wonder if I would have been as forgiving.
"Well enough about me how was your childhood?" he asked clearly not wanting the attention on him any longer.
"Well Christmas was always kind of amusing when I was little, I got a mixture of babies and dolls and tool kits and cars I could build." That made him laugh, and it made me feel good to make him smile.
"So I am guessing you were one of those girls who didn't have to have daddy change their oil?" he joked but raised his eyebrow, wanting my answer.
"I've had to change oil and tires since I turned 10. I had to help rebuild one my of dads cars so that I could have one when I turned 16" I replied with a smile.
"That is so awesome! God a girl that knows about cars is such a turn-on."
God this boy, him saying things like that was driving me crazy.
"So aren't you a least bit curious as to what I rebuilt?" I questioned, I stopped walking, and looking up at him while biting my lip hoping that he would be interested. Dammit Brenna what does it matter what he thinks?
"Oh hell yeah, I'd like to take a look under the hood if possible." He was grinning like crazy and I was wondering if he had meant the double meaning by that. Well if he did or didn't, I'm still going to play along.
"You know I'd like that, I love it when a man knows his way around the body . . . of a vehicle." I said with a smirk, leaning into him. He stared into my eyes, trying to see if I'd waver, I never did and he broke eye contact, a big smile playing on his lips. We started walking again "I have an electric blue 1965 Chevrolet C10 with the original 6 cylinder with a 3 speed transmission, my favorite color." I said with a huge smile. I absolutely loved my truck and was very proud of the work I did on it. He groaned when I told him the details, I wonder if he knew what that groan does to girls.
