Forever and Always: Chapter 8

Start from the beginning

“I’ll take it from her, Eliza,” Matt said, then walked in front of me so he could talk to the cop.

“I’m guessing you know, why I’m here,” the cop said to Matt, her foot, tapping against the welcome mat, her arms still crossed over her chest,

“Yes, I know,” Matt replied,

“You know the drill,” the women said, and Matt nodded, then walked towards the cop’s car.

‘You know the drill’ what was that supposed to mean? Matt had committed crime before, or something. I hope not. Maybe, Matt had been in jail before, maybe that’s why he had to move high school’s.

“I need you to come to the police station too, Eliza,” The women said, which made my eyes widen.

My mom would totally freak if she found out I was in the police station. To her, I was that innocent daughter who didn’t get into any trouble and never would. Hopefully, the police wouldn’t have to say anything to my mom.

“Why do you need me?” I stuttered,

“We need you for questioning,” the women replied,

“Ok, can I just get my bag, please?”

“Sure, but don’t take too long, and don’t plan on running away or anything,” she warned me,

I nodded my head, then walked towards the coat hanger, and took my backpack and slumped it over my back. I knew my cell phone and my house keys were inside, so I didn’t bother checking. I walked, out the front door, and closed the door behind me. The cop was in the police car, Matt was in the car, talking to the cop, occasionally laughing, not worried about what could happen to him, like me.

I got into the car, and looked at Matt, Matt took my hand and held it, he whispered,

“It’s going to be ok,”

I nodded, no words coming out of my mouth. The cop started the car, and then drove the car, smoothly. I just prayed, to god, that everything was going to be all right, and that Matt wasn’t going to go prison.

“Please god, I’m begging you please,” I muttered silently under my breath so no one could hear my words.

The  car, stopped, I opened my eyes, to see we had arrived at the police station. I closed my eyes because, when I pray, I prefer closing them. The police station did not look too bright and sunny. It was just a grey boring, brick building with a signboard, the letters written in black, which read, ‘police station’. At the side of the building, there was graffiti everywhere.

I got out of the car then walked over to the police station; the women led us to the station then said, she wanted to talk to Matt alone and that I should wait in the waiting room.

The waiting room, looked very dull, the walls were grey and the silver chair were lined against the wall. Several police officers, walked into the waiting room, talking about some of the incidents they faced when patrolling an area. I tapped my toes, impatiently and fiddled with my fingers. I was so nervous, what were they going to do with me, what was going to happen to Matt?

My phone made a buzzing noise, which meant I had received a text; I opened up my backpack and got my cell phone out.  It was from Brooklyn, what was I going to tell her? The message read:

‘Hey, what did you get Matt, reply!’

Oh god, she was definitely going to be surprised by my response, she definitely wouldn’t be excepting my answer!

‘I’m in the police station!’

Seconds later, the message was sent, Brooklyn replied,

‘You’re in the police station! What the hell happened? Should I come to pick you up?’
