The truth hurts.
It's this ugly, fearsome thing that has the power to both comfort and break someone. I've never had the pleasure of escaping it.
Not once.
I hear every word as a fact or a lie. I'm programmed to see through people's facades. Whatever secrets they try to hide, I can sniff them out. And yet, despite this strange ability, I've managed to lose the girl I like, the school I love, and the friends who stood beside me from the very beginning.
I don't claim to be broken.
And I will never claim to be a victim to this curse of mine, but I will always do and say what I need to in order to protect myself from this tainted, hateful and dishonest world.
