Chpater 21 | plan

Sitting around the end of a long gothic dining table, hades sat at the fanciest chair obviously meant for the ruler, candles lit the room, and in the distance at the other end of the long table slept Cerberus.

L kept glancing over at the hellhound, scared it'd wake up and try to eat him or something.

"Alright, we're aware that the Yagami kid owns a death note. And it seems there's another one floating around correct?" Hades began.

"Correct" you replied.

"What we need to do, as I'm sure you know is get the books off them. No one but them knows where they're hidden at the moment so this will prove a bit tricky but... if I'm not mistaken the Death Note is a magic force meaning it'd show up as an energy on your mirror correct?"

"Yes, it should. I'm yet too see it though..."

Hades linked his fingers and looked down at the table as he thought up if more details to this plan.

"Lawliet my boy, you're currently investigating Yagami?" Hades asked.

"Y-yes. And we are on the trail of the second kira. We know they're a female, and likely already met Light at some point. But we aren't sure exactly who yet" L nervously replied.

"The second kira can kill with only a face?"

"We think so yes"

Hades leaned forward and rested his elbows against the table, sighing in frustration.

"That's not good. She has the eyes then..."

The realisation hit you when he said that. Of course! That's how she kills with only a face... that wasn't good. She was far more dangerous than Light if that was the case.

"The eyes?" L questioned.

"Shinigami eyes. When a human has a book, they can trade half their lifespan away for the power to see a persons name and lifespan above their heads" you explained.

"I'm afraid no crystal necklace will protect you from that, but if we want to keep you alive you'll need some kind of shield against those eyes" hades said.

"Are there even shields for them?"

"There are, but they're rare. Only Kami of death can make them, I may have something but it'll only be a one use thing. If someone with Shinigami eyes looks at you while your shielded, the shield will last as long as they're around you. When they leave the shield will break and when they come back it'll remain broken. The eyes are a powerful force that can't be beaten in full, only in partial"

"That should work, we only need to come into contact with the second kira once in order to arrest them, then they can be blindfolded"

There was a moment of silence as the god conjured the final details of his plan. He stood up, reaching for a scroll and quill that sat further down the table. He rolled it out and began to write.

"Here's what I need you kids to do, use the mirror to locate the death notes, detain them and bring them down here to me. That will force the shinigami to come down here to get them back, and I can give them... a talking to. Eventually Yagami and his companion will notice the books are gone and start to look for them. And if they're smart they'll have kept a page hidden, but a single page won't show up on the mirror since the energy is too weak. Hopefully by then either you'll have become one with each other securing Ls safety. Or, the Kami will be involved and able to take it off him. I have no doubt the Shinigami will just kill the Yagami kid after he looses, so I'll see to his soul being sent down here to be punished. I also have no doubt Yagami has some kind of plan of his own, pay very close attention to any energies that surround him. The end goal here is to get the books. As long as we have the books, it doesn't matter if they know your name, they'll be powerless against us Kami" hades explained.
