Questions. That's what they had. The taskforce weren't informed of you before the meeting so of course they'd have questions.

"So... (y/n), how long have you been L's bodyguard?" Aizawa asked.

L had told you what to say as a fake backstory, you had all the details ready to go.

"About 6 years now, I was hired for a case where he would have to be on the scene and was kept on the job after that" you said.

"Is (y/n) your real name? Or just an alias. I don't expect anyone to give out real names I'm just wondering since you're connected to L..." Mogi added.

Yes, (y/n) was your real name. But a deity can't be killed via death note so a real name being out wouldn't hurt you. But it's suspicious if you said yes. They don't have to know what your real name is, or what your fake real name is.

"No, just an alias" you replied.

You felt eyes on you, glancing the corner of your eye and seeing Matsuda with a very confused look was the one scanning you down. Surely he hadn't figured anything out already had he? Aizawa nudged Matsuda, which made him snap out of his daze.

"Don't stare" he said.

"Sorry it's just... I feel nostalgic about her. Like a déjà vu" he replied.

Well well well. This does just keep in getting interesting. It is possible for humans to communicate with deities, witchcraft and voodoo allow that. Maybe someone close to Matsuda like an ancestor had practiced such crafts and passed on their abilities to him. He just hadn't noticed it yet. What he was feeling was a pulling, something those who have had some kind of connection to a deity can feel.

He didn't seem like the kind to be into such studies. Maybe it was a relative...

Whatever it is, you'd have to tread lightly around him. It could possibly be of help but also of danger.

"Maybe you've seen me at a shop or something before" you said.

"Huh... maybe. Anyway, you've been working with L for six years? What's it like?" He asked.

"It's fun but very demanding work. Wherever he goes I follow, anyone sketchy is throughly investigated. But I've gotten to travel he world and see the behind the scenes of famous cases. Although I'll tell you what, getting that man to sleep is a task and a half"

L walked back in, swapping Mr Yagami for Aizawa. Seems nothing suspicious was found surrounding the chief. Just as you thought, he had questions too. He sat back down at the coffee table and looked up at you.

"(Y/n). You've worked with L, is he trustworthy?" He asked.

It was understandable that he'd be skeptical, L was allusive, mysterious, so much is known about his cases but almost nothing is known about him.

"Yes. He holds one of my... biggest secrets. If it got out I could be in some big trouble. He hasn't told a soul. He's serious about justice and his work" you replied.

Mr Yagami assumed the big secret was your 'real name' since this case would make something like that such valuable information. Little did he know it was the fact you weren't even human.

"I see... well, there's no other way this case will be closed if he's not working on it. We have to trust him either way" He said.

"Oh he's trustworthy, believe me..."

One by one the taskforce talked to L, and one by one they started to leave. And eventually by 10pm everyone was gone. Just you and L in the hotel room, Watari out running some final errands of the night. The meeting over, you flopped into the sofa opposite L and sighed.
