Chapter 15 | stormy

It's been a few days since the tennis game with Light, and his dad having a heart attack. The taskforce were all working as best as they could without him. Today was more of a catch up on missed work day.

Today was odd though, it was midday and still almost pitch black outside. It seems a storm was rolling in. The wind chime on the balcony outside was going wild, the shade cloth flapping around a lot on the wind too.

You wondered if this was just a natural occurrence or if one of the weather Kami was angry. Sitting at your laptop, reading over some case files, the room was rather silent as everyone was focused on work, when out of nowhere a clap of thunder so loud it shook the building sounded, making everyone jump.

"Far out... looks like that storm is gonna be worse than we thought" Aizawa said.

Thunder that loud was natural, but of course only you knew that. Thor was probably angry, maybe the whole kira situation is getting intense up in the other realms too...

And just like that, rain began to bucket down. Lighting flashing in the distance. Looks like Loki was in on this too.

"Looks like we'll be stuck here for a while" Matsuda said.

"Seems like it" you replied.

You felt something against your leg, looking down to see L had reached out to have his foot touch your knee.

"This isn't a natural storm isn't it?"

This communicating through thoughts trick was proving to be very useful.

"No way, someone up there is angry. Probably Thor and Loki" you replied.

"Kira?"

"Probably. Let them have their rage, it'll be over by tomorrow"

Another clap of thunder rang throughout the air, and the lights flickered.

"Thhatttsss not good... everyone save your work in case-"

L was cut off by the lights going out, computers going off and electronics shutting down only L's laptop and yours staying on with battery power.

"-the power cuts out..." he sighed.

Well, there goes a few hours of work, hopefully auto save managed time catch at least some of it. The room was dark, only lit by the laptop screens.

"Damn... now what are we meant to do?" Matsuda asked.

Without the source of the case work and the rain so heavy going outside was a bad idea, there's nothing anyone could really do. The hotel should have a backup generator but it might take a while to get it up and running.

"Guess were resorting to pen and paper" Aizawa said.

"No, we don't have any work that can be done without the records in the computers. And if the wifi is down with the power we can't use our laptops either" L replied.

"Shit-"

Matsuda looked over at you, kind of confused for a moment, but that quickly changed to a slight laugh.

"Oh right- for a second I thought you were glowing but it's just the light from the laptop" he said.

You were silent for a moment, internally panicking. He was actually right, you were glowing. That was something deities did, emit a soft glow. You didn't think it'd stay in effect in your human form.

"S-speaking of lights didn't we have candles? In the kitchen?" You said, diverting the subject.

"You're right, I think we did" L replied.
