You squealed, running over her and enveloping her into a large hug. Tears spilled from your eyes, and you smiled. The two of you stood like that, hugging and rocking on your feet. Steve and Tony looked on awkwardly, and Loki was still unconscious. You pulled away and your friend was crying too.

"I can't believe you're still alive! I though you died!" You shouted.

"Same goes for you!" She laughed. Her hands were on your upper arms and she tensed. "You have muscles now?"

"I spent a week as a military General." You sighed. "On another planet..." You added.

"Jesus christ." She said.

"Did anyone else survive?" You asked her. She nodded. Your brother walked out, smiling weakly. He had a bandage wrapped around his torso. He wrapped you into a hug, and passed you an old toy of yours, and he had one just like it in his hand. You smiled at him. Those toys were your most prized possessions between the two of you.

"Where's the boyfriend?" He asked.

"Sleeping on the couch." You laughed, wiping tears from your eyes.

"So he's a lazy guy?" He questioned. "A murderer but also a lazy prick? I'll kick his ass!"

"No, he got knocked out by Captain America." You smiled, turning to Tony. "Thank you for giving them somewhere to stay." You smiled at him, and he returned it.

"You owe me though."

"I'll make dinner."

"Deal." Tony, being the shorter one between him and Steve, wrapping his arm around Steve's torso, and Steve jolted. You knew what that meant, and smiled. You turned to your best friend.

"What happened to Jeff?" You asked her. "Or the rest of my family?"

"They... all died..." You said, sobbing slightly. "But... Jeff and I broke up a few minutes after we spoke. He said all of it was your fault, and I knew it kinda was, but he was being a dick about it. So I called it off..." She sighed. You smirked.

"He was an asshole anyway." You reassured her. She smiled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and rubbing a fist against your head.

"So, general of an alien army, huh? How'd that work out?"

"Cool, I managed to get two traitors in prison and kick Loki's ass." You smiled.

"You did not." Lpki shouted from the couch. Well, now he'd woken up. Your brother walked over and punched him in the gut. "Ow!"

"That's for nearly getting little sister killed, you prick!" He shouted. You grinned.

--

"Brother? Young lady?" Boomed Thor's voice at dinner. A brown haired women next to him kicked him under the table.

"Don't shout at them." She said.

"Sorry Jane." Thor apologised. "But last time I saw Loki he elbowed me in the face. And the girl next to him had fallen off a building." You smiled, using your hands to create a little fire arch between your hands.

"Magic!" You laughed. Thor grinned.

"Science." Jane corrected.

"Weird ass science illusion particles."

"Yeah, that works too." Jane smiled at you, before glaring at Loki. "How the hell are you still alive? Last time I saw you-"

"I got stabbed, yes. But as she said, strange science illusion particles." He smiled. Jane still glared.

"So Jane? When'd you get here?" You asked her, changing the subject.

"Just after your town.. you know, Tony wanted someone to help him analyse some samples brought by your brother. Sadly... I wasn't able to go alone." She sighed, as two people left the elevator. One girl, with glasses and dark hair, and a taller boy emerged and went over to the table.

"Hey- Wow... that's a lot of people." The girl said. You smirked. She was probably suggesting the scorch marks on both yours and Loki's faces as she cringed. "Did you two get into a fight?"

"Yeah, on the elevator." You smiled. You hadn't had time to have a shower, because you went right back to the lab to work on the cannon, and Loki happened to be around when you shot the nitric acid and hydrazine bombs. "And when I shot the cannon."

"There's a cannon? Cool!" She shouted, smiling.

"Hell yeah." You smiled as she strolled over to the table and sat beside the table.

--

"Sleep is for the weak." You said to yourself, standing on the balcony again, with a hot latte in your hands. Everyone else in the tower was sleeping. You had told Loki you didn't want to sleep that night, and stupidly enough, you had made your way to the balcony again. It had been fixed, but with reinforced glass, four sheets thick. There was a lot chance you'd fall off that one.

New York was said to be the city that never slept, and you agreed. There were lights everywhere. Over dinner, Tony had taken back everything about not being able to leave the tower, by yourself anyway. Loki had to be kept under a watchful eye, but you didn't mind that.

You looked over the city, thinking. If you could control fire and ice already, what else could you do? You stared out across the city, and sighed. In front of you, a pigeon perched on the balcony. Curiosity stemmed, and you pushed at the air. It shimmered, and the bird was knocked off it's perch. You squeaked, trying to grab t the air to pull it back. It pulled the bird towards you, but it was completely disoriented.

You smiled, reminding yourself of a book series you had once, and still do love, in which the characters could do that with a certain magical discipline. Sure, you had strange blood running through your veins, but that was incredibly helpful.

You pushed at the air beneath you, and you shot upwards, gracelessly. You squealed, pushing at the air to dense up so you could slow your descent. It did a little, but you still landed painfully. Nothing was broken, but just strained at the pressure. You smiled. This new development could save your life.

You turned to the doorway, and pulled at the air. You shot forward, and almost flew straight into a chair. You stopped yourself, clutching your coffee for dear life. You started laughing quietly. Well, being an insomniac could help you in more ways than you knew.
