Chapter 52: If Only...

When she returned, Misomi told Eric about the result of her visit to the Adventurers Guild. Upon hearing it, Eric was quite surprised at the speed of it. He had expected for it to take at least a week for someone to accept the request. But nonetheless, he didn't complain.

"That's unexpected. Thanks for the help, Misomi. You can go back home now, there isn't much left for you to help with." <Eric>

"Alright! See you tomorrow then." <Misomi>

She said her farewell then left.

Eric remained to continue working. He returned to sorting out the potions according to their healing properties. As he was doing so, he began thinking of someone from his past. The thought of the adventurers guild suddenly made him brought up a past memory.

It was about a girl who he was friends with and was considered a childhood friend.

While Eric was still part of the Bastorn family, there was a girl who came over from the neighbouring house. She had pretty red hair which he liked. They grew up together and had fun playing. They even told one another their future plan and what they want to become.

Eric said he wants to takeover his family's bussiness, while the girl wanted to become an adventurer. Both promised to work hard to achieve their goal and meet up once more when they became successful.

Unfortunately, it has been 5 years since they last met. The last time was before Eric got banished. Ever since then, he was too ashamed to find and see her.

"I hope she's doing well... If it's her, she's probably an S-Rank adventurer by now, haha..." <Eric>

Eric hoped to see her again and find out how she's doing. But he doesn't know if she would forgive him for not contacting her after all this time. Eric continued his work to forget such thoughts.

Misomi returned to the mansion and began helping her mother cook dinner. Since the people living here has increased, they needed to cook more.

"Wow~ Misomi, your cooking skills have improved so much! I'm so proud of you!" <Maya>

Maya praised Misomi.

"Ehhh... Really? I don't know... Mother must be imagining it. I don't think it improved that much." <Misomi>

"You don't have to be humble. It's the truth, ever since you started cooking for Shin, your cooking skills grew more and more. The taste and texture of the food are so delicious. I wonder what's going on~ hmm?" <Maya>

Maya can't help but tease her daughter. Her daughter who understood her mother's intention began trying to deny as much as she can.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about mother! It's probably because I have mother's guide that my cooking is improving." <Misomi>

"Fufu~ Okay, Okay~" <Maya>

Maya just chuckled at Misomi's shyness.

As they continued cooking, Maya remembered the conversation she had with Shin this morning. Shin had asked her to confront Misomi about it. But in an indirect manner. Hoping to know her opinion on the matter.

"Say, Misomi. What do you think about running your own restaurant?" <Maya>

While mixing the ingredients, Misomi heard something unexpected from her mother.

"My own restaurant? That would be nice." <Misomi>

"I see..." <Maya>

Maya didn't expect her daughter to answer straightforwardly. She would usually get reluctant when it comes to wanting something.

"Then, you have no objection if you become an owner to one, right? I can guarantee that your restaurant would flourish with this kind of cooking skills." <Maya>

"Really? Thanks, Mother! I'm happy to hear that. But why are you even telling me all this? Its not like I can open a restaurant overnight. Moreover, I'm not confident just yet to run one. I'm still young, I have so much to learn." <Misomi>

"Yes, yes. Mother knows. But if it does happen, I will help you as much as I can." <Maya>

Misomi had no clue why her mother started such a conversation. But she stopped her cooking to hug and thank her mother for being such a caring and supportive parent.

After they were done, it was already 8 PM. Almost everyone who stays inside the mansion had returned. Total, there were 10 people.

(Shin, Shana, Layla, Iris, Kagura, Misomi, Maya, Eric, Albert, Adolf. FYI.)

The size of the people staying here had grown ever since they first moved in. And no doubt that in the future, more people will be coming to stay.

Once they were done with dinner, Shin went to talked to Maya regarding his request. Maya told her about Misomi's opinion on the matter. Shin was satisfied with her answers. He then went to find Misomi.

Misomi was cleaning the dishes in the kitchen.

"Hey, Misomi. You have a moment?" <Shin>

"Ah, Shin-Sama! Yes, of course! What do you need?" <Misomi>

Misomi was shocked to hear that Shin was looking for her. Though she is happy about it.

"There's something I've planned for you. But it hasn't finished yet. I need a little more time. It should be ready in 5 days time. During that time, I want you to come to the building a few blocks after Guardian company. Till then, do help out at Guardian, alright? I appreciate it." <Shin>

"It's nothing! Really! I'm really happy to be of use to you. If you have anything for me to do, don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad to do it. As for the plan... What plan?" <Misomi>

"It's a secret. Until that day arrives, do expect it. I hope you will like it. Truly. It's for you." <Shin>

"Okay... I don't know what it is. But since it's from Shin-Sama, I will gladly accept it. Thank you in advance!" <Misomi>

"Haha~ You're welcome! Continue to work hard. That's what I like about you." <Shin>

Shin then walked off after finishing his bussiness with Misomi. Misomi who heard the last sentence from Shin, suddenly became red. That sentence continued to repeat in her head. She kept telling herself that she must have heard wrongly. However, it was hard for her not to listen to Shin properly. So she had no choice but to accept that she was hearing correctly. Because of it, she couldn't keep her calm. She slowly understand herself, and that she does have feelings for him. However, there's still a barrier that she put up herself before that feeling. A barrier by her in which she isn't deserving to be with Shin. Misomi has no confidence in her worth. That's the only thing that keeps her true feelings from blooming.
