Monroe's Need

Logos

Children at preschool and elementary age are more susceptible to "absorbing" information than someone in high school or older.

Dr. Lori Matthew, a psychology professor, brought up in her Child and Adolescent Psychology class that Piaget figured that children's biggest asset is language development in preschool and early elementary. As well as other research showing that multilingual students, when taught languages younger, students are better augmented and kids are at a better spot developmentally to learn more words.

Kids are better at learning more when it comes to learning a language because they are already are developing language while adults already have developed language skills.

Why is language is important to kids?

There is a bigger demand for languages but the availability shrinks in easy access in schools.

Mary Ellen Flannery shows on her article called "As Need for Foreign Languages in School Grows, Access Continues to Shrink" posted in January of 2017 to NEA Today.

B. Pathos

Most people i went to high school with seemed like they struggled with foreign languages

Whether it was Spanish, French, or Japanese.

Monroe's Satisfy

In preschool or elementary, not all teachers may know a foreign language or much of a language

Teachers can be hired on to come into a classroom for a bit out of the day.

Children will learn a couple of new words a day.

Soon their vocabulary will be strong enough to start adding in easy sentences.

ACCORDING To Dr. Lori Matthew, Kids between ages 3 to about 10 are like a sponge when it comes to language. Children around that age group on average learn 6-10 new words a day. It could be foreign languages as well.

How solutions satisfy need

If there were a few teachers in different languages in the school

The teachers come in for 15 to 30 minutes a day.

Students learn languages easier than a high school student or older

There is even online resources to teach language like Duolingo.

C. Overcoming basic objection:

Now most might not be on board initially but after some transition periods will be a norm for young kids

Monroe's Visualization

(+)Teaching students= better communication not only in the states but in different places of the world.

(-) If schools teach languages it would take time out of the school day for STEM.

(+ ia) But on the flip side. If we don't teach them when they are younger.

There is more time for math or reading

(- ia) Going into previous thought, there would be a worse of a language barrier.

Conclusions:

Final Summary:

Children's developmenting brains are easier to manipulating into learning new info. At the same time less and less foreign language skills are being presented to the students.

Call for action:

As current or future Parents (that is if you have kids), or even future teachers. We should teach kids a little bit of another language. A tutor would be a good bet for parents who do not know another language.
