"let's get out of here!" E.J hissed, slowly gripping your wrist and creeping into another room. Awkwardly, you paused, then turned E.J around.
"i have... Something to tell you." you rubbed your arm as the memory of Louth's box flooded into your head. Confused, E.J lifted his mask. "it's about Louth?"
"I really don't want to talk about her right now, alright? She's gone."
"no it's... She knew something. Something that nobody else DID. And she took it to her grave. Not literally though. She left behind a box, it had... CLUES, and notes and addresses and even NUMBERS-"
"Y/N." E.J suddenly said it stubbornly. Looking up from your hands, you saw E.J's expression. "Louth was crazy. Just like everyone else. Maybe even more in a different way. She was probably just, writing a book or something."
"no, you listen to me. Don't you DARE say it isnt true. Haven't you noticed? Major creepypastas aren't here. Because they were killed. Judge Angels is dead. Millie is dead. And so many others!"
E. J stiffened, then his face relaxed, seeming intrigued.
"yeah. I know. So I need your help. Come on." You sauntered past E.J and opened the window, crawling out and falling into a bush. Thorns pricked your face and you hissed in pain. You heard E.J land beside you on his feet.
"...you ok?"
"i'm fine."
You got up, wiping little speckles of blood from your face.
"we have to keep going. Let's head back, and I'll grab the box." You grabbed E.J by the sleeve and marched into the woods.
"listen, Y/N. We could die doing this. Whoever this is clearly is more skilled than all of us. Can't we just tell Slender?" E.J attempted to reason with you.
"no. I have to do this. For Louth. To Slenderman, we're just pets. People he manipulated into doing his dirty work. Hell, he eats KIDS, E.J. You think he'll care?" You snapped, feeling the temperature plung. You were through the portal.
"he's taken care of us. And i'm sure he'll care..." E.J replied, but doubt flooded his voice. You both exchanged a knowing glance. Slenderman didn't care in the slightest.
As you two continued to walk, you suddenly felt your nose prick at a familiar smell. Smoke?
"do you smell that?" you asked as you entered the clearing. When E.J didnt respond, you turned to look at him. His face was pale, his mouth open in horror. "what?"
Following his gaze, you saw a massive fire. Were the others having a bonfire. No. Screaming. Of horror and pain. So much pain.
"n-no. No, no no NO!" You cried out, your voice breaking. The children. Their home that Slenderman sent them to. It was ablazed. You barely even realised you were running until you felt the heat on your face. Fire tickled your hair, inviting you into its stinging warmth and painful clutches of death.
Your head lurched forward, and you felt yourself hit the cold, wet grass. Why was it so wet? You felt someone stomping on your hair.
"whats going on? Ow! That hurts!" you cried out.
"SHUT UP! Your hair's on fire, you dumbass bitch! You ran into the fucking fire!" Jeff said. Jeff?
"where's Lee? Where is he? Where's my brother?!" you demanded.
"Y/N-"
You got up, shoving Jeff away as he tried to grab you. The smell of your burnt, but extinguished hair reached your nose, and you stormed forward to the cluster of creepypastas. Shoving them aside, you looked down at what was happening. Suddenly, everything faded out. White noise was all you could hear besides your beating heart.
On the wet grass, multiple children laid there, still and eyes glossy. Toby clung his twins with a distant look in his eyes, holding in his arms the only memory he had left of his previous lover. Their skin was charred, and their faces were set in a look of droopy pain. You fell onto your knees beside a particular child, your shaving fingers tracing their face and moving their (h/c) hair out of their eyes.
"L-Lee?" you mumbled, staring into his glazed over eyes. "Lee, come on, you're all dirty. Get up off the floor." you desperately clung to your little brother, confused as water dropped rapidly onto his ashy face, washing away the soot in droplets. "is it raining?"
"Y/N." someone dropped beside you. You shakily looked up, and saw Sam's tear-stained face. Where was his kid? "he's gone."
"n-no he's not. He's here, see? Lee, get up. It's not funny."
"come on, Y/N. It's ok. We have to get away from here now." jeff scooped you up by your waist and put you on your feet.
"no, i cant! Lee needs me! Stop! Get off me!"
"Y/N, he's DEAD."
"NO HE'S NOT! LET ME GO!"
