"Where's Virgil?" Emma groaned.

Patton had a cloth drenched in cold water placed on her forehead,

"Fighting."

"What?!" She shot up, immediately regretting it as the forest spun wildly.

She put her hand to her head and Patton lay her back down.

"You need rest,"

"I need to fight," she gritted her teeth together.

"Not in this condition. These past few days have been a lot of information to process for you and it's finally setting in,"

"But I-"

"-but nothing. You need to rest and eat. When was the last time you ate something?"

"Ummm,"

Patton shook his head and dug in the bag Logan had left him.

"Hm. Not much I can do with this," he frowned.

Emma moved her head though it caused her a great deal of pain and effort and spotted a bush of berries.

"Patton?" she croaked.

"Yes?"

"Get some of those berries,"

He looked to where her head was facing.

"You sure those aren't poisonous?"

"One hundred percent,"

"Okay!" he smiled.

He picked the berries and placed them in a bowl for her, helping her to sit up against a rock.

"Thanks, Pat," she smiled as she ate the berries.

"No problemo, señor benero,"

".....what?"

He shrugged,

"It's just something I say."

She laughed,

"I like it."

He smiled at her and wet the cloth again.

"So when can I get in on the action?"

"Never," he said seriously.

"Please, Patton, I'm so much better. Look!"

She shot up and though everything throbbed, she put on a fake smile to try to persuade Patton.

He shook his head,

"Nope. Sit down."

"I'm fine-"

"I won't ask again, sit down right now or I'll make you, and let's be honest, that won't be so hard based on your current state, now would it?" he said in an authoritative, parental voice.

She sat down instantly.

"I'm sitting down because I want to, not because you told me to,"

"Keep telling yourself that,"

He filled up her bowl with more berries.

"Thanks," she ate them quickly: she was pretty hungry.

But something wasn't right.

"These taste weird. Are they the same berries?"

"Mhm, maybe they're just riper,"

"They look exactly the same, and smell-" she gasped,

"what did you do to the berries?"

"I'm not sure what you mean, kiddo,"

"They......smell.....weird..."
