The liquid had turned a pitch black. It wasn't the colour any of them were expecting. It's supposed to make them turn good. So why did it look so evil?
"The best way to do this is injection," Logan stated, filling up five needles - one each for Virgil, Roman, Logan, Mark and Bob. It was two extra, just a precaution Logan wanted to take.
"Nice," Roman smiled, slotting his needle into an empty slot in his belt.
"Try not to kill them," Bob smiled, taking his needle.
"That could kill him?!" Emma corrected herself, hysteria clear in her voice.
"Of course not," Virgil assured her, though he wasn't entirely sure himself.
"Well, the venom is actually quite stro-" Logan began.
Mark elbowed him.
"Em, I promise there's nothing to worry about," Patton said softly.
She sighed.
"Okay, pass me my needle,"
All of them looked away awkwardly.
"I have one, right?"
"Well..."
"Do I, or do I not, Logan?"
"No,"
"How am I meant to change them back when I'm fighting them?"
Everything got even more awkward.
"Guys?"
"You're not fighting, Emma,"
"What?!"
"Virgil's orders, he-"
"Virgil, why can't I fight?!"
"Well your emotions tend to get the better of you, Em,"
"Excuse me?" she asked, annoyance creeping into her voice.
"When we told you we had to kill him you broke down,"
"Because I showed human emotion?!"
"Emma, you're not physically or emotionally ready for this, you have to understand-"
"-I'm strong, I can do it, trust me. I won't break down," she said softly in reassurance.
"Emma, no,"
"Virgil, I can do this,"
"You can't,"
"Virgil-"
"-I don't want you to turn dark!"
She paused.
"What do you mean?"
"I....um....I didn't....uh,"
"Ugh, can we end the angst already? Virgil thinks Daniel will convince you to turn dark," Bob said completely fed up.
Emma looked to him completely hurt.
"You don't have enough faith in me to think I won't betray you?"
"Emma, I just think that because you miss him so much that you might....you know.."
"You honestly think that I would betray all of you for a guy I haven't seen in seven years? A guy who's turned evil?"
".....yes?"
"Unbelievable!!" she stormed away further into the woods, shrugging off Patton's attempt to comfort her.
Bob put a hand on Virgil's shoulder.
"You really do have a way with women,"
