David Guetta and Sia's Titanium woke me up. The phone's screen was so bright, I squinted my eyes till it adjusted to the brightness.
The caller ID read Jerome💖😍. He called before at 12am, now the time was 12:01am.
I picked the call. "Hello."
"Happy birthday to you!....."
I smiled widely remembering it was my birthday.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to youuuuu. Happy birthday babe." He sang cheerfully.
"Thank you Jay."
"Was I the first to wish you happy birthday?" He asked.
I let out a small laugh. "Yes."
"Yes!! Mission accomplished. See you in school today. Happy birthday."
"Thank you."
"Bye." He cut the call and immediately, another one came in, it was Chioma.
"Happy birthday bitch!!!!!" She squealed.
I couldn't hold the loud laugh that came out of my mouth. "Thank you dear."
"Bring my cake o. See you in the school today. Bye." She cut the call.
Seconds later, Henry's call came in.
"Jum Jum. Happy birthday babyy!"
"Thank you dear."
"Hope we are eating rice?"
"Yeah, graduation rice."
"I want to eat birthday rice too. See you later b, Happy birthday."
"Thank you."
I switched on my mobile data. Messages started flooding in. I went to WhatsApp and saw so many 'Happy birthdays'.
Jerome and Chioma sent happy birthday at 12:00am. There were messages from Henry, Tega, Kunle, Bayo, Lolade, Clinton, Alex, Angela, Elder brother, Sandra and other school and class mates.
I made sure to reply all of them.
Tunde had already read the thank you I sent and he replied.
Tunde: my baby is already a big girl oo. Happy birthday baby sis😘
Me: 😊😊😊😋 thanks bro😘😘
Tunde: video call?
Me: yeah sure.
I went to switch on my light and picked the call.
"Hey sis. Happy birthday!"
"Thank you Tun tun."
He grimaced. "What type of foolish name is that?"
I laughed, throwing my head back. "It's 11:10pm over there, right?"
"Yeah."
"How's that your cute room mate?"
"The idiot is here." He replied.
"Hey, I heard that." I heard him say. I learnt his name was Marcus.
