Family Dinner

Riley's POV

Before Maya got home from her shift at work I had to warn my parents about what was going on. My mom was making dinner with my little brother and my dad was coming up with lesson plans.

"Mom," I said, "Dad can we walk about something."

"Of course," my mom said leading me to the table.

"What's up?" my dad said.

"There is something going on with Maya," I said.

"What?" the both asked.

"Lucas has been trying to get her to go out with him," I said.

"Lucas," my sad said, "Lucas Friar the boy who comes from wizards hunters."

"Yeah him," I said.

"Why would she be talking to him?" my mom asked.

"I don't know they have always fought over things but he has never taken an interest in her before," I said.

"What are we going to do?" my mom said.

"I'll tell you what we are going to do we are going to sit her down at tell her she can't date him," my dad began, "he can't find out that were wizards."

"Corey if we tell her that then she will want to date Lucas," my mom said.

"So what we are just supposed to let her date him," my dad said.

"Maya doesn't like Lucas it's the other way around," I said.

"Just keep Lucas away from Maya and we will be okay," my dad said.

The door burst open and Maya came in flopping down on the couch.

"Maya honey how are you?" my mom asked getting up.

Maya mumbled something none of us could hear.

"There is something else I have to tell you," I said, "Maya got nominated for homecoming queen."

"You got nominated for homecoming queen," my mom yelled.

"Uhhh," Maya said.

"Honey that's amazing," my dad said.

"No it's not because I have a chance at winning," Maya said.

"You don't want to win," my mom said.

"No being queen is something only bubble headed people want," Maya said.

"Let's not think about it then let's just eat dinner," my mom said.
